DC is in a very bad spot. Marvel is years ahead in developing their characters on screen.

DC and Marvel have a ton of comic and cartoon material that copies one another. And Marvel has strategically been trying to put out first any material that can make DC look like they are simply copying them even if DC did it first. Inevitably most movie goers will see Darkseid and this story as just some cheap Thanos, Marvel ripoff despite the fact Thanos was a takeoff of Darkseid.

So that is why DC is so rushed and cannot take the time to develop their stories as they would likely want to as Marvel will put most of the key story lines out their ahead of them if they do.

As I said upthread I am pretty sure the new look of Aquaman is DC attempt to make it herder for Marvel to introduce the Submariner without him looking like a blatant ripoff.
Sad, really. Same with Deathstroke, Deadpool is the ripoff of dude. I like DC when they take the time to do it right, like their cartoons. Wish they would just try to tell great stories with their legendary characters instead of trying to appease the bean counters.

Did you see the extended version? He punches dude's head into the floor about three more times. So awesome. Only stops when he gets a bullet pointblank to the dome.

latest

THAT'S when he stops!

The only problem I have is having to watch Adkins grimace while Affleck's mouth is barely even there. That and the placement of the entire sequence is completely wrong.

It should have been what Batman was doing while WW and SM were fighting Doomsday. He can still come in at the end with the cannon, but just tie Bats up with the thugs/rescuing MARRRRRRRRVA instead of diving under a column of concrete.

Incidentally? Watching this on HBO is pure drivel. Just nonsense. The film has to have a pristine format to fully be appreciated, the mess that it is.

Yeah, I was actually talking about the one shot KO Bat's hits the guy with when he's standing. He punches him so hard the guy's legs shoot up in the air while his head is driven into the floor.

That was fucking awesome. Best Batman fight scene on film. That's why this movie pisses me off so much. If it had been a complete disastor, devoid of any redeeming features, I wouldn't have minded so much. But it had moments of sheer genuis.

Doomsday was completely unnecessary at that point in the story. DC trying to rush things again. They should have made a shorter, leaner movie focusing on Batman and Superman, with a longer fight scene at the end. Maybe finish the movie with Doomsday's reveal, setting up the sequel. Instead, they tried to mash together two of the most iconic story arcs in their history - The Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman - and didn't really do either one justice.

I knoe dat feel but I've come to accept a new cinematic language where there's much less emphasis on clarity and more focus on energy and tone. I want to believe a good editor could have made a much more coherent plotline with all the baysplosions Snyder captured. As it stands, I've seen enough diamonds in the rough where I try to forgive the errors and focus on the beauty. Sometimes only one or two things will be necessary for me to feel invested, to say, "All right. Now I'm aboard," and once that happens I try not to pay too much mind to the awfulness.

And there's plenty in BVS. But, and here's where many people probably don't like my opinion: I think it's about even with the Nolanverse. "Some truly great stuff that hangs together flimsily with a lot of

Nailed that shit on the head.

It'll be nice though because Deadpool's connection to Deathstroke has been overridden with Spiderman. I always considered Deathstroke as garrulous -- but in that pedantic, condescending way that is very different from Deadpool's irreverence. I think Deathstroke's main issue will be having to deal with Joe Mangianello's smarmy voice. Always sounds like he's trying to get away with something, rather than an authoratative tone.

Not as good as Cap's fight scenes, but it's so refreshing to see the Bats kick ass big time.
They've done a really good job at establishing Cap's onscreen fight style. Reminds me of Sagat with powerful looking kicks, and nice rhythmic shield-throwing that provides great choreographic timing without looking too much like chop-socky. I have to say, though, I don't care too much for the fights themselves. Cap vs Winter Soldier on the road was my favorite, and I am a big fan of knife-fighters switching hands mid-fight. The sound of Winter Soldier's arm catching the shield is a great counterpoint to the sound of its flight. What's your favorite?

New Test Footage of Aquaman Swimming Underwater, Possible First Look at Orm

Zack Snyder shares through his Vero account a new test footage from Justice League of Jason Momoa's Aquaman swimming underwater. Aquaman approaches another sea dweller, possibly Orm a.k.a. Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson).

Why does Orm look older than AQM? Isnt he the younger brother?

The elevator scene in WS for sheer enjoyment and the road fight between Cap and Bucky for sheer intensity.

Also the threesome with Bucky, Cap and Iron Man in CW. Not just for the action but for the emotion involved. Although Cap and Bucky beating Iron Man is up there with Iron Man one-shotting the Hulk...

I'm making a point while you quibble. The point is if you ask this question of anyone, the order goes like this:

Wonder Woman is number one. Film or no. Supergirl is two. A distant third, but who should really be first, is Ripley. And she is pretty much tied with Sarah Connor. Other than that there are no other female superheroes. And yes I know what that sounds like, but again that's not the point. The point is milli is right.

Harley Quinn is probably two these days

I like where your head's at. But would you say it's Harley Quinn or Margot Robbie that people plunk they stank ass down to see?

I know that THE ANIMATED SERIES brought Harley Quinn to wide attention, but I feel she hasn't crossed over into the cultural zeitgeist. Not like the others. Not even like Catwoman.

Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Ripley, and Sarah Connor are somewhat beyond their properties. They mean something. Yes, Supergirl is more attendant to Superman -- but girls and people identify with these characters in a bigger way than only enjoying their fiction. I'd say the most recent member who might qualify for number five is GAME OF THRONES girl. I'm not going to bother even trying to spell that name. To this point, no character is likely going to beat Wonder Woman in significance. Maybe Rosie the Riveter.

Shit, how did I manage to not mention Leia? Bad Fish. Baaaad.

1. Wonder Woman
2. Leia

3. Supergirl/Ripley/Sarah Connor

I pondered your first post about this trying to come up w/ a counter, but couldn't come up with another name to put ahead of WW, Supes, Rips or Conner.
Leia may be iconic enough to be in that range, but I don't she she has really done enough to be ranked above Rip/SC.

Here's my breakdown.

wolf%2Bof%2Bwall%2Bstreet%2Bdance%2Bscene.jpg

WW and Supergirl go beyond the actors, while the latter three/four don't. They're tied to the actors, but not as much as Terminator is to Arnold (which is why a TERMINATOR without Arnold will never work quite right, but Lena Headey as Sarah Connor is very well-received).

What mitigates Leia's impact is the same reason why I don't put Lara Croft in this discussion: they're fantasies of men. Leia's a plucky damsel. Croft is titties and being able to dominate her. Leia's got more nuance, but here's where being tied to the actor pushes her past Ripley (the greatest female sci-fi hero ever) and Sarah Connor. Carrie Fisher is a legit figure in women's progress and the discussion of mental health. It's not pure but Leia gets that benefit of exposure, which makes her a stud in the community.
