JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Movie (Guillermo del Toro Script Details Revealed)

Impossible, Zatanna is an elite here ala Holm, Captain Marvel is more of Rousey's speed

RR was recently seen buying a top hat and fishnet tights. So congrats, you have your Zatanna.

I'm looking forward to this.

I hate that they call this team Justice League Dark.

It's such a stupid gimmick. They have nothing to do with the Justice League.

Probably a mix of both CGI and makeup. It's hard to speculate though.

It'll probably be like the Planet of the Apes movies. Serkis and the other actors in mocap suits with their faced scanned and mapped onto the CG chimps.

I wonder whether Perlman being in this will have any bearing on the possibility of Hellboy 3...?

Also, I wish DC would go the Marvel route and stop having different actors for their TV/Film properties. McGregor is fine, Farrell less so, but I liked Matt Ryan's Constantine!

Ben Mendelsohn Rumored for Anton Arcane in DARK UNIVERSE

EsyLxOb.jpg

The latest in a recent string of casting rumors surrounding the Justice League Dark movie (a.k.a. Dark Universe) has Ben Mendelsohn being looked at to play the film’s villain, Anton Arcane. According to Heroic Hollywood, Medelsohn's decision to take or pass on the role rests largely on who signs on to direct the film.

Medelsohn will be best recognized by superhero fans for his role as Daggett in The Dark Knight Rises. Since then, he’s had roles in Exodus: Gods and Kings and the Netflix series Bloodline, and has a role in the upcoming Star Wars standalone picture Rogue One.

Created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Anton Arcane is the arch nemesis of Swamp Thing, rumored to be played by Ron Perlman in the film. In his original continuity, Arcane was a mad scientist who created a legion of monstrous henchman called the Un-Men. In the New 52, Arcane has a connection to the Rot, the force of death and decay in the DC Universe. He’s also the father of Abigail Arcane, Alec Holland/Swamp Thing’s love interest.

last i heard she won't even show her face unless it's towards Marvel Studio executives

She's just being smart. Everyone in Hollywood knows DC/WB executives are shady and crooked.

shut up dragon! Arcane as the main antagonist, I like it

Frontrunners to Direct JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Revealed

vdYoNiv.jpg

Things are heating up for Justice League Dark, as casting rumors have been swirling around the past week and now JoBlo has word on who the studio is eyeing to direct the supernatural superhero tale. JoBlo is reporting that Big Bad Wolves directing duo Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, as well as Evil Dead remake director Fede Alvarez are the top contenders to take the gig right now.

Both sets of filmmakers have a strong grasp of the dark and macabre genre and would easily fill the shoes of Guillermo del Toro, who left the film after turning in his screenplay and toiling with the studio over casting and scheduling. However, del Toro's script is said to be excellent and one of the main reasons that the studio is pushing to get JLD underway with a shooting start in early 2016.

Neither Keshales or Pepushado have a project on the books (their last effort was a contribution to the anthology horror flick The ABC's of Death 2) and Alvarez is in post production for his latest effort, A Man in the Dark, so both sets of filmmakers have a window (if not a clear open path) to jump into Justice League Dark if so inclined.

As previously reported by both Heroic Hollywood and Latino Review, names being tossed around for casting include Colin Farrell as Constantine, Ron Perlman for Swamp Thing, Ben Mendelsohn as Anton Arcane, Ewan McGregor for Jason Blood/The Demon, and Monica Belluci is being eyed for Madame Xanadu. JoBlo can also corroborate that they're looking for a comedic actor to take on the role of Deadman, as well as an unknown up-and-comer for the role of Zatanna.

It really is unfortunate that Del Toro had to split, but if his script really is that strong (and this hard push to get production rolling certainly backs that up) then I'm still excited for the project.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Revealed to Be the Next DC Animated Film

zBvHg3D.jpg

Following in the footsteps of DC Entertainment’s animated recreation of the iconic The Killing Joke storyline, the company is taking on one of their lesser known properties for their next endeavor.

While it hasn’t been officially announced, we now know that their next animated film will be Justice League Dark, via the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) website. In their listing for Batman: The Killing Joke, the additional material section includes “A Sneak Peak at Justice League Dark”.

Justice League Dark was introduced as part of DC’s New 52 initiative and featured a roster comprised of John Constantine, Zatanna, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Enchantress, and Shade the Changing Man. The team was meant to be a Justice League-like group that focused on supernatural and magical threats, but it wasn’t actually related to the league in any way. In fact, they really don’t want to be a team at all, but they end up grouping together for the greater good.

The Assault on Arkham animated film, featuring the Suicide Squad, is believed by many to have been a "test" for the viability of their live-action movie, announced shortly thereafter. Could the same happen to Justice League Dark?

I'm glad WB/DC Animation is doing this, it's
great that doing other charcters besides the
usually suspects. I hope this does well hopefully
that force them to to other lesser know characters
and teams.

I also hope Marvel is successful with the SS
animated movie as well like to some more
from them as well.

Deadpool after Hulk vs Wolverine, SS after SS animated movie, i have no reason to not believe this. Good for them, i say. As much as i love Batman, oversaturation is a real thing. Make it a hard R, and people will go nuts.

Tons of New Footage Revealed in JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Sneak Peek

c8TaFlv.jpg

Warner Bros. Animation’s next movie in line is finally going to give fans something they’ve wanted for a while, whether live-action or otherwise: the Justice League Dark in action. And now, we have a first look. The footage has hit the web in the wake of The Killing Joke’s home release, including a trailer and a brief behind-the-scenes look at the film.

The featurette confirms, unsurprisingly, that the line-up of the main team in the film will feature John Constantine (who will indeed be voiced by Matt Ryan, who played Constantine in the short lived NBC live-action show), Black Orchid, Etrigan, Zatanna, Deadman, and Swamp Thing.

The usual Justice League will also appear—Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Green Lantern all make brief appearances in the footage above—as supporting characters, when the supernatural heroes are called in to handle mysteriously magical things going bump in the dark. Batman in particular will play a large role as the audience’s introduction to the world of DC’s magical characters, and a skeptical foil to the team. Justice League Dark will release later this year.

Justice League Dark: First Look at Warner Bros. Animation's Next DC Film

I haven't seen any of the DC animated films, does anyone have a list of recommended films with a viewing order?

I love some of the characters such as Constantine, Zantana, Deadman, Etrigan and Swamp Thing so I hope this is good.

@Dragonlordxxxxx so they're not going to make a live action film now? Ben Mendelssohn as Arcane is a pipe dream now? I'm so confused

I think the live-action project is put on hold for now.

This could be similar to the Suicide Squad movie situation. They first released Batman: Assault on Arkham animated movie heavily featuring the Suicide Squad. A few months later, they announced the live-action SS movie.
