Is it your view that overturning Roe would outlaw abortion nationwide? That's false.
No, my view is that overturning that ruling is political kryptonite with the destructive power to immediately implode even "Teflon Don".

If Republicans try to re-outlaw abortion via the SCOTUS every dream that @VivaRevolution has had for every US election will come true.

I think they would just make it a state-by-state issue, and many states would remain legal. JMHO.

I'm as conservative/libertarian as they come, but that's not my concern (Roe V Wade). I'm not sure they'll mess with it as far as outright overturning it, either.
My focus is more the 2nd (without the 2nd, we lose the rest) and a strict interpretation of the constitution as written, not judicial activism. I realize the other side would say conservatives legislate from the bench just as often but it's simply not true.
haha

Just my $.02, which generally trades for about $.01 on the open market.

I think we could turn this into a bet. I think you are dramatically underestimating opposition to Roe.

I disagree here. Nothing will hurt Trump politically. Not even boots on the ground in Iran.

They'll just blame Obama, and liberals for the war.

Sort of hilarious, just like during the presidential election, people are trying to decide the SC nom selection needs to change.
Shit like that makes me hope Trump chooses the most absurd far right wing clown available.

Exactly. It's scary how many people don't understand this.
We understand it fine, we disagree that it should be a State's issue. Just like civil rights shouldn't be a State's issue. They are universally guaranteed by the Constitution, imo.

Point me to the term "abortion" in the US Constitution. If you can't find it, you're probably on shaky ground.

The 10th Amendment could not be more clear.

Abortion is not universally guaranteed by the Constitution, killing babies is not a civil right

And...states like California, NY, NJ, and Illinois it will remain legal...who cares
It should be a universal right, so I care. Just like we shouldn't allow slavery because some State's want it, or we shouldn't allow race based discrimination just because some State's want it.

Is human cloning viable yet? Let's just clone Gorsuch five times and skip the selection process.

Show me where abortion is forbidden in the constitution? See how pointless that is?

Just like we shouldn't allow slavery because some State's want it,

No, it's not like that. Slavery is outlawed by the 13th Amendment. It doesn't require convoluted arguments about a hidden "right to privacy" in order to see that states can have nothing to say about it.

It's not pointless. Read the 10th Amendment.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The power to regulate abortion is reserved to the states. It's been that way since 1791.

You conveniently ignored my point about Civil Rights as well. Some freedoms need to be universal, otherwise you are infringing on individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

I hope he nominates Obama just embarrass him further as he gets rejected.
