Just watched Wiklacz vs Mix

he sucked equally as bad in bellator. i saw nothing different there, just shittier opponents. dudes always been a bum.

That is a bit over the top...

He faced decent (but sub-UFC) competition over there and was finishing most fights. It was reasonable to expect him to at least do 'well' in the UFC.

He didn't look worse than the Bautista fight. In the Bautista fight he completely froze and did nothing. He looked like an amateur in that fight.
In the Wiclacz fight he was way more active, but made too many errors. But he should've gotten the nod.

I can't believe how slow Patchy looks in UFC, its like he is Justin Tafa out there, he can barely even move. What the hell has happened to him?, he was never this slow and ploddy in his previous fights, (just forget the opponents for a moment because I know people will say UFC has better opposition), I'm just talking solely on his speed, he is so flat footed and looks to be moving like one of those dreadful UFC HW prelim fighters. Its so weird

I agree. I see no controversy at all. Anyone scoring for mix is just crazy this fight was not debatable

Agree. I dunno how some are saying there’s no controversy, rd 2 was a close one and I thought Mix won it. I scored it 29-28 Mix. Granted, the fight wasn’t great so I’m not going to go back and re-watch, but 2 of the 3 scorers for Sherdog scored rd 2 (and the fight) for Mix and the majority of MMA media scored the fight for Mix.

That said, Patchy obviously did not look good again.

There's always a goofy MINORITY of people who scream no controversy it can't possibly be scored ANY other way <36>

Patchy Mix footwork astounds me. He looks like a zombie in there.

Even when it's the majority of people, it's still dumb to call a close fight a robbery. Not to re-ignite arguments, but fights like GSP vs Hendricks and Jones vs Reyes are just close, and people the majority will passionately argue against those decisions because they wanted to see those champs lose. But most of the time a close decision is just close, not a robbery.

First round was clear Wicklacz and third round was clear Mix. It's only the second that is up for debate.

I thought Wiklacz landed the more meaningful strikes and did more damage through the round and therefore scored it for him.

Same, he not only landed the harder strikes in round two in my opinion, but he also landed more strikes in general in that round, and mix putting his head into a guillotine, then stalling on top for 60 seconds wasn't enough for me to edge the round back his way.

I agree, close fights (like this one) aren’t robberies. It’s just kind of bizarre when people say it’s clear as day when the judges, MMA media, and fans are all split.

I generally think the judges are pretty good. People greatly exaggerate the number of bad decisions.

Yes, there are certain fights like Machida vs Shogun and Nam Phan vs Leonard Garcia, and a couple others, but for the most part these fights are just close. And the judges don't get the benefit of stats after the fact -- they get one look at the fight live, and they have to make a snap decision.

Speaking of bizarre, Daniel Cormier was going on and on after the decision was read about how Mix was robbed. Completely unprofessional.

But yeah, close fights aren't robberies.

Could be that he got the bag and made it to the big leagues, so his motivation to train and perform at the very best isn't there anymore?

I mean we have seen it countless times with team sports... a guy performs very well to land a big contract, and immediately falls of a cliff after

IDK, just trying to come up with something...

Is patchy hurt, he looked nothing like this in Belator ?

His level of competition went up. Mario Bautista has won 8 straight in the UFC and imo is a dark horse candidate to beat Umar.

Wiklacz was a KSW champ with 2 defenses and it was a close fight.

I have huge issues with this. Joe Rogan does it too.

So many times they bias their commentary based on who they want to win, and that fuels media and fans just take their word for it.

It could very well be, its possible for sure. As you say he may have lost his passion and motivation for it all. He looks incredibly slow and sluggish compared to how he used to be. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets cuts, or they may give him 1 more fight, not sure really.

They're supposed to have bias commentary. They are color commentators not play by play.

That's bullshit.

Color commentary is meant to provide background on the fighters, technical insight into strategies, and explain the nuances of what’s happening — not to cheerlead. They’re there to inform the audience, not to give a biased assessment of the fight.
