Just Watched the Dern Fight

Dern is not refined in the standup but what I noticed from the Yoder fight is that she is not hesitant to engage despite those deficits and she throws heavy.

Yesterday, weight disparity aside (and I put aside only because ABC still agreed to fight- Dern had an unfair advantage, but ABC sanctioned it so how much can you complain about its influence on the outcome), Dern emphasized how bad it is to get rocked/dropped by her because her jiu jitsu is so slick and of the level that you need to have all your wits about you when defending.

When ABC got hurt, Dern so quickly was able to pass, take the back and cinch in the choke. There was almost no resistance to it. It happened so fast and while no scenario on the ground would have been great for ABC (who is showing improvements everywhere but is not a great grappler at this point), Dern having rocked her was worst case scenario because it just facilitated Dern's ability to use her best skillset in an efficient and awesome way.

The only reason Cooper dropped is because Dern was probably 135 at fight night, when do you see strawweights ko each other, almost never. She should move up by herself for missing by 8 pounds but she will do it again and UFC will just look away. If it was anyone unkown the fight would have been canceled.
