Just watched Poirier vs Hooker

Yeah but I believe Conor is past his prime at this point and hasn't fought much these past few years so it should be interesting.

Dustin is a bit sloppy and somewhat chinny, while Conor has a great chin, is probably much fresher than him because he has not been in wars, and is much more precise/efficient. I really want Dustin to win, but it definitely does not bode well for him.

Ya, Conor hits hard. That's why he's a 2.5-1 favorite.

I wouldn't call this a lock. Obviously surviving the first 5 minutes will be the hardest part.

I really can't picture Poirier beating McG

Dustin has always been an overachiever imo.

I could see McRunner beating Dustin in similar fashion as the first fight but it's hard to say where he's at right now.

Porier is definitely chinny and leaves himself open a lot. The deeper this fight goes the more it moves in Porier's favor, but Conor will more likely than not get the finish early.

For what it's worth, Dan Hooker is an excellent striker, so there's no shame in Dustin getting touched up by him so much early in the fight. I do agree with you that Dustin is at a very bad stylistic disadvantage against Conor.

500k gift might impact Dustin's performance .. just saying .. as much as Dustin is a company man ... he got paid heavy for this fight ...

I'm calling a Eddie Alvarez performance for Dustin

Conor got slept by Nate Diaz and I don't think Nate Diaz is in my Top 10 at 155. Thus, IMO this fight is more competitive than the bookmaker odds suggest because there are a lot of fans and Irish $$$ pushing the line higher. The bookies want to have a relatively even amount of wagers on McGregor and Poirier that cancel each other out which allows the bookies to pocket the 10% vigorish relatively risk free off the losing bets.

Personally I hope Poirier wins so the 155 division remains functional and the McGregor circus doesn't FUDGE things up for a year or two with his nonsense and avoiding top contenders. The fighters at 155 work hard and they deserve to compete for titles rather than holding up the division for some fast talking Twitter typing leprechaun who is constantly holding out for more $$$ and doesn't fight the best 2x or 3x per year like all the other top contenders.

Hmm what's ijter2is dustin absorbed ALL those strikes, was fine and never got dropped. So.... Unless conor hits twice as hard as hooker, i think it'll be competitive at the very least.

Dustin's only real shot is via effective game planning. I'd like to see him incorporate the clinch and look for the takedown. Conor will keep popping back up, but a couple rounds of that will tire him out.

Agreed Hooker is a solid heavy striker and in fact he KO'd Gilbert Burns in July 2018. We don't really know how McGregor stacks up against the best at 155 given his limited recent activity - Khabib where he lost on the feet and the ground and then fought a very past his prime and gun shy Cerrone at 170.

Dustin isn't easy to put away at 155.

Dustin's been hurt in like nearly every LW fight he's had barring like Pettis, let alone when Johnson laid him out cold and Eddie finished him (regardless of the legality).

The idea his chin is any better at LW is a complete myth. He just got a bit more skilled and experienced so he survives more often, but he's still getting hurt and can be finished. Fucking Max hurt him lol.
