So, alot of people on here are hating on alvarez for the knee..and claiming poirer was robbed or was destroying alvarez..

1. I believe herb dean should be more to blame then anyone else..he allowed the first knee to go by which was illegal as they hadnt switched to the new rules yet..it was the begining of the confusion and he fucked up hard.

2.Alvarez could not see where he was kneeing and was in beserker mode based on the round that took place , so he should of cleared his target before throwing but in the heat of the moment its hard to..hardly intentional neither guy has a history of cheapshots nor do i think eddie or poirer wanted it to end like this ..also the theory of him doing it on purpose makes no sense as alvarez was in good postion and was turning the tide on poirer, after being rocked himself..why cheat if your close to victory already

3. Poirer was hurt bad in that round..yes he won round 1 but eddie was taking control in the second and rocked poirer really bad so it wasnt a straight whooping by poirer..just saying.

4. Hope we see this fight agian it was a shame it ended this way..maybe for title shot eliminator or title fight if eddie can get another shot and win..that would be a cool storyline for a second fight and either guy deserves to be champion.. poirer is a great fighter especially at 155lbs..give him gaithe next..that way he can beat the same guy eddie did and sets up the rematch

So true. People act like poirier was destroying Eddie bell to bell which simply isn't true. He won the first hamdily, but was seconds from being stopped in the second. Which also makes it baffling that people think Eddie would throw the illegal knee on purpose, since he wouldve stopped poirier within a few seconds had he kept his offence up.

Poirier was about to go out like al little bitch. He was fading period with or without the knee against a guy who comes to kill you over 5 rounds of action, if it goes that far. Poirier doesn't belong in the same sentence as Alvarez, what a puss.

Yeah i dont get how people got that notion..eddie battled back and hurt him while being hurt himself..it was something special heart wise to pull that off..it was crazy the two times ive watched that fight it got me crazy pumped such a good battle..

I don't think that makes a difference. Alvarez threw 2 illegal knees at the end of the day. I don't think it was intentional either - and he should have being DQ'd for it, imo - but the solution to the problem was having them both fight again, which Alvarez supposedly didn't want to do for some reason.

I think Poirier has every right to be pissed off.

I think it's just because Eddie got offered a coaching job on TUF and a fight against a higher ranked opponent, it's easy to see why he picked that fight over Poirier. I don't think He'd have an issue running it back as long as the fight makes sense to raise his stock at this point late in his career. If Poirier beats Gaitje and the top of the division is still a logjam for whatever reason, i could see Eddie taking the fight as a title eliminator.
