Just watched Big Fish. Older movies are just better.

People keep telling me it's looking through rose tinted glass when I tell them newer movies fucking blow. And I've been thinking maybe they were right.

Well, I just watched Big Fish for the first time from over 20 years ago and it was fantastic. Shit got me teary eyed at the end.

And I'm thinking they haven't made a movie of this caliber in a very, very long time. This just affirms my conviction of movies from 20+ years ago are just plain better than today's garbage.

The ending fucking gutted me

Lol Captain Marvel and Black Panther have come out since Big Fish. To have this opinion you must have skipped the last jedi and Indiana Jones rides again.

Old movies are my jam, I can watch a shitty movie from the 90's front to back easy, I stop most new movies before I get halfway. I also spend a lot of time shaking my fist and yelling at clouds.

Yeah I pretty much only watch older movies now.
Most modern stuff just disappoints and I'm not looking for that feeling.

Thanks for the recommendation of Big Fish, I haven't seen it.

I caught the back half of it many years ago, then went out the next day and bought the DVD and watched it , then two days later watched it with my wife. She loved it too .

Reminded me of Amelie, similar feeling to it.

It's an easy and lazy argument that a lot of people use. It takes no effort and totally undercuts the person saying that something from the past is better than the current thing.

The past 10 years haven't been the greatest for films that's for certain. I think most of the good shit is going to TV shows.

It's just easier to flush out the material and characters on a show. Can't do that in 2 hour movie.

Deadpool wolverine is the most popular movie now

so yeah

This is Tim Burton's masterpiece: his magnum opus.

He distills all of his major themes, what he cares about most, what defines him as an artist, into this one film. It's heartbreakingly beautiful.
