I know theres been alot of threads about this but if any of you guys have followed some of my other posts i like to score fights and post round notes as to why i gave to each fighter. So heres my scoring and round breakdowns for Darren Till vs Stephan Thompson

1 2 3 4 5 T
Thompson 10 9 10 10 9 48
TIll 9 10 10 9 10 48

Firstly let me say there was not much to judge for each round but here is my take away.

Round 1- i gave tp Wonderboy becuase he landed a few clean punches in a round of misses and gesturing there was a clean 1,2 he landed as well as a solid body punch..till landed a few leg kicks but nothing else.

Round 2- i gave this round to Till as he was clearily more effective with his ranged legs attacks and landed a big shot at the opening of the round (first exchange)

Round 3 - even round, these guys matched each other in pace, and clean big strikes this round i could not pick a decisive victor for this round becuase not else happened Till forward pressure was negated by hes misses and WBs counter combos..till landed some good kicks and lefts as well...hardest round of the night.

Round 4. Clear round for thompson, evaded alot of tills attacks landed with fast combos..not anything huge but sharp clean strikes.

Round 5. This was Tills round great use of the jab and dropped WB for a flash knockdown. I dont count the falling takedown as neither one had any control and was more of a tackle then takedown wonderboy recovered well but was too passive to offset being knockdown.

Overall a super close fight with small burst of actions and not the barn burner/ toe to toe scrap most people wanted, i for one appreciate the level of skill displayed and understand that fight came down to centimeters at some points when it came to dodging strikes or potentially landing the ko blow...so koodos to both guys for a master class in range/defense and counter offense. The fight was too close to call IMO and i dont think a rematch now would look any different its just these guys styles melt together so well it almost looks like two mirror images fighting.

I dont agree with Tills victory but the fight was super close.

Thanks for reading guys let me know if im close on this one or how you saw it.

Please tell me more about how skillful their striking is, and how much you're not a typical, just bleed fan TS.

Just giving my assesment..there was a few moments where my inner just bleed god thought they were about to drop bombs finally and trade off..but then one of them shuffled away lol..so it was a inner struggle watching it at some points but still skill is skill i call it how i see it

Thanks for the breakdown. Close fight. Pressure and damage should win when all else cancels out imo. Glad to see Till move forward, division needs fresh contenders.

oh yes.

this should lead to an intelligent and fruitful discussion.

Sounds about right. The only round that either guy clearly won was the 5th, and only because of the knockdown, otherwise it was pretty even. It seemed like Thompson was landing the cleaner shots the rest of the fight but only very marginally and was very passive. I guess the judges felt like til was pushing the fight. I would have given it to Thompson but his lack of aggression clearly cost him

I know most didn’t enjoy the fight but I really had no problem with it. In all honesty i question what people were expecting going in

Yea i think theres a pattern developing here with him, would like to see him ramp up the agression abit next fight not stupidly and get koed but just abit more

I was expecting 2 strikers to try and hurt each other
We got a sparring session outside of one punch

I would have been absolutely OK with a draw. maybe all fights like this should be draws or do we really always have to find the winner at all costs? been saying this for a long time.

there was a lot of complete BS decisions which tainted some fighters records. this one was not as bad. this was a close fight with not much damage done.

thanks for the breakdown TS.

They were brother ..trust me there was many times where if one guy dodged the wrong way or not fast enough it would have been over..just two very similar styles and top notch defense lead to them missing..either one of These guys agaisnt another contender would probably won by k.o

I agree I think we need more of them to be honest, with the cost of losses being so high in the UFC..we cant afford to just pick winners everytime..

Interesting read.

I'm looking at the fight again later.

Hope I don't fall asleep.

Ahem, I can see it being a draw. It was VERY close.

49-46 doesn't even make sense to me. Bit of homefield advantage there.

However, a fight like this, people being so passionate about who won, I think it's a bit silly. You're bound to end up with angry people no matter what when a fight like this happens.

We know the most significant strike was landed in this round - and it wasn't thrown by wonderboy.

Don't bother with him.

Not worth replying to someone like that.

exactly. score some more 10-10 rounds, don't look for a winner at all costs.

on other note funny like you just created a humble thread, you put some energy into the breakdown and even thanked us in advance and wanted to discuss. and still the first one who responds has to talk shit. :-D
