Just Moved to the City

You don’t have to say hi to everyone, TS.

Mind your own business
If someone interests you for something, talk directly and in plain language
City people are sensitive, and usually oblivious to their surroundings. If you mind yourself, you'll be fine 99% of the time.

edit: watch for cars when you're crossing the street. You never know, don't trust the lights and don't follow anyone's lead.

Can't help you with Edmonton advice but I can tell you in general is always be aware of your surroundings, look as though you mean business and don't impede the flow of traffic... Foot or car.

But then again, I'm from Chicago where people shoot you for looking at them funny.

Just be yourself, the last thing you should want to be is another citiot.

Hopefully you'll get out soon.

I can’t wait to retire and move away from the city. Country living beats any city for me.

Look left first when crossing the street then look right. Unless youre in uk, then you look right first.

Pinky out when drinking anything it will differentiate yourself from the non city born scum. Buy a nice fur you can wear around town. At eyes wide shut parties don’t try and take off people’s masks. Bathrooms are like outhouses just they are inside. Dentists are like barber surgeons but with an actual education and qualifications. The wallet inspector rarely comes around so don’t be afraid to ask for credentials if some claims to be one. Electricity is like that burny boom boom stuff that falls from the sky, you don’t need to save the stick that is on fire or have a journey to find another one if you lose it. Just use the light switch.

crank this shit while you're driving to let the city folk know you are one of them.

Don't drink the water. I got a parasite in Edmonton from the water back in 01.

I would say to just be aware of your surroundings all of the time when you are out in public. There are so many evil people out there looking to take advantage of others when they are vulnerable and naïve. I would always carry a weapon with me, at least always a small knife especially if you are using public transportation. I had a lot of things stolen from me when I lived in the city, a car, two bikes, a credit card. Lock all your shit up, if you have a car don’t leave anything out, not even spare change.

Take advantage of the homeless people and when you have any kind of leftovers or food to give them from a restaurant I would always give them food but never money.

Don’t trust anyone that’s trying to be too friendly to you that is a stranger

When you are walking around the city on the sidewalk, don’t be one of these idiots who is facedown in their screen the entire time. It’s amazing to me how people will just walk across a street without even looking because they are on their phone. Especially at night do not get lost on your phone. Always be aware of your surroundings at night

Can it really be considered a city nowadays if it has less than 1 million people?

I spent a lot of my time in a city with 30-40 million people and when I return home to my city of 6 million people I feel like Thanos in the garden .

Edmonton is basically tundra to me.
