Yes, you are right. He won the round simply because of ground and pound. But if we talk about pure grappling exchanges (which this topic was) he was only defending, zero attempts to do anything and then eventually chose to disengage.

If you don’t see one guy attacking and the other defending and then running away, I don’t know what to tell you.

His judo is also something the others don't have. Really showed in his fight with Arman in the clinch

when Islam was dominating on the ground,judo throw him and finally beat him via submission and you see this as Islam running all the time,

We are talking about grappling and ground game here.
He was not dominating on the ground in the first round, if you think that way, then you’re living in a fantasy world.

Good that you mentioned that judo throw, he indeed is good at that, has developed his own cheating system, where he puts his fingers into his opponent’s gloves and uses it like a sleeve grip. He tried this with Volk too, but Volk knew about it and was prepared.

That's the difference between pure grappling and MMA grappling. In MMA you not only grapple but also beat your opponent up to soften them so they can't effectively grapple anymore. Dagestanis tend to be very good at that part.

Yes actually it was very close with charles feel could go either way but charles get hit way too much imo i think jdm has a good chance
However it just will be a khamzat and ddp dejavu
Islam grappling is just on another level not sure jdm is able to train it up
Jdm do have a killer mindset just look at how he break his arm in round one with gilbert burn and proceed to fight another 2 round and finish
With this kind of mind it will pose challenge for islam
 
More varied than Khabib's in terms of trips and such but not as effective. Khabib had an otherworldly understanding of body positioning, leverage and weight distribution. It's certainly as good as we've seen at LW bar Khabib.
 
He blends the various grappling arts like no other fighter. He wrestles, he uses judo, his subs/sub defense and ground positional prowess covers jiu-jitsu through and through


One of my favorite submission wins of his is that top-mount armbar on Kajan. Systematic textbook shit
 
Charles got subbed by Pettis, and not just by him.
He's one of the best offensive grapplers in the UFC, but his defense isn't on par, and he can get caught.

He's no Demian Maia.

Dustin isn't completely lost in grappling and he's had wars with Gaethje, Hooker and Max where he came out on top.
