Just had an incident with a Pharmacist today

Updated original topic since there was more to the story.

I used to get prescriptions filled at Walgreens.... out of nowhere I think there was some weird policy change but the pharmacists and techs would loudly proclaim the medication you were picking up right in front of the all the other waiting customers.

You'd walk up and quietly say you're there to pick up a prescription and say your name.... Dbag pharmacy bitch would find the little bag, loudly read your name and the medication back to you as if verifying it was correct. The last straw for me was when they loudly told all of us that the lady at the counter was picking up some vag meds.... I emailed a complaint while I stood in line and then told my tech that I think they're breaking hipa laws.

Walgreens emailed me asking what store this happened and that was the last I heard from them

I thought it was common for people to ask for a specific brand if they wanted. I didn't know Pharmacists could or would even deny you a brand as long as it's the same drug. Can anyone explain why? Other than, because the Pharmacist can.
I'm guessing you're not American.

As someone who has struggled with an opiate addiction I've in the past had a pharmacist refuse to switch to the generic brand of Oxycodone. He wouldn't tell me why when I asked but I figured it had to do with the fact that the generic brand only had oxycodone while the name brand percocet had both oxycodone and APAP (Acetaminophen) in it.

Also to the OP how bad was your ankle sprain since most of them take around 5-14 days to fully heal. Either you have a pretty bad sprained ankle or you just got hooked on the pain pills

That's weird. I've had 3 surgeries and was prescribed hydrocodon (norcos) each time. Here in California (or at least in the Kaiser health system), the name brand and the generic has the exact same ingredients.

I am American. I haven't experienced a pharmacist not giving me a choice though. I specifically remember a time when a pharmacist tech asked me if I wanted the cheaper generic brand.

Very suspicious response. Better not fill from there anymore. That guy'll likely give you fake meds that'll kill you or give you the runs and shrink your dick.

Did you ask WHY he couldnt tell you?? Maybe there is a perfect reasonable explanation that has NOTHING DO TO WITH YOU. Why do you have to get all defensive as if hes acting against you? what is your own problem with people?

LOL
Do you really think I was being defensive?
I thought this was America, where people have freedom of choice.
It's like asking: Do you have Coke or Pepsi?
And they say: I can't give you that type of information.

WHAT?

I've sprained my ankle, broken my leg, and other various painful injuries and I didn't get fucking hydrocodone.

LMAO!
Neither :)

Those generics should've been uppercutted back to China.

That's how you solve that problem.

Hell once in my 20's I dislocated the fingers on my left hand pretty badly at work. Soaked my hand in a bowl of ice until it got numb and snapped those fuckers back into place. I can't imagine taking narcotics for a sprained ankle. I toughed one of those out with zero meds when I was 9 years old ffs.

I broke my hand in a fight once and never took anything either. I don't like downers like pain killers. They don't make me feel good.

Yeah don't want to get hooked on painkillers, plus I'm poor. I've just shrugged and said it'll heal eventually for a lot of stuff that I'm sure I could have gotten a scrip for.

It's hydrocodone. Schedule II
I'm still recovering from a sprained ankle I had 3 weeks ago.

Whether you fall into this category or not, asking for a specific generic of a narcotic is considered drug seeking behavior.
There is an opioid epidemic and those tells don't fly anymore.
