From the 2014 Athlete Guide to the Prohibited List:

S1. Anabolic Agents
Anabolic Agents are prohibited. This includes the use of prescription testosterone creams (such as Androgel) or injections, or the use of any other anabolic substance (such as DHEA in a dietary supplement). The list of anabolic agents is extensive and even if an anabolic agent is not specifically listed , it is still prohibited if it has
“a similar chemical structure or similar biological effect(s)”.

I don't know how far back those athlete guides go or how long ago it was first banned, but clearly DHEA was banned for at least 2 years.

I could be wrong, but if so then USADAs policy (like IV bans) didn't apply to the UFC.

from the moment usada joined the ufc (july 1) this stuff became banned. machida is spinning it like this is a sudden change in 2016 and he had no clue. which is clearly b.s.

he had 9 months to read his little booklet like everyone else.

how is that a justifiable excuse? with all of the people who have been caught (including his best friend anderson) you think he didn't know to read his book? you think that roided monster S&C coach doesn't know what is banned or not?

fact is he cheated, he admitted to cheating, and then he made up lies about it to make it sound like he innocently did something to get the public opinion on his side

he is wrong about it being banned in 2016, but between now and his last fight against yomero is when the ufc began adhering by usada standards. perhaps dhea was not banned by most athletic commissions acting independent of usada/wada.

man, i definitely am inclined to believe he truly didnt know he was taking a banned substance. for one, DHEA is naturally produced by your body so it's probably not that easy to test for as the baseline will already be there. i think he put that supplement down legitimately not knowing it contained banned substances.

still, he has banned substances in his body and should not be allowed to fight, and should be punished for it, despite what i believe to simply be ignorance.

hopefully more fighters and/or managers will do a better job of checkin their supps..

the first year 7-Keto doesnt appear specifically on the WADA list is 2011, in 2011 and prior just DHEA is listed.

7-Keto is clearly marked on the banned list for 5 years, prior to that DHEA is listed
