A jury in Florida's Miami-Dade circuit court on Monday awarded All-Star Boxing promoter Felix "Tutico" Zabala Jr. $8.5 million in damages in his breach of contract and unjust enrichment lawsuit against lineal middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

Although Alvarez was hit for damages, Zabala did not win any judgment against Golden Boy, which he sued for tortuous interference. But with the jury deciding there was no valid agreement between Alvarez and Zabala, that meant there was no contract for Golden Boy to interfere with.

That is going to hurt.

Yup. Looking to the future, I suspect he won't be easier to deal with as far as negotiations lol. He'll recover though. He's a big name and skilled fighter. This is a misfortune for him, but he'll be alright in the long run.

He is going to be on the hook for the 5 years of legal fees on top of this as well. It is still a dent for him.

Golden Boy will take the hit imo.

Canelo's alibi was embarrassing. He claimed that because the contract by All-Star was drafted in English he thought it was a working VISA instead of a contract. Are we supposed to assume that the contract he signed a year later by GBP was drafted in Spanish? You're telling me he can't get a translator to read the contract in English? I'm shocked that they got away with that.

Yeah you would think he would have a lawyer with him for signing legal documents.

Wow you guys think so? I would be surprised if that happened but kudos to Oscar if he does.
They were well aware of what was to come when they signed him. 8 mil is fuck all to what Canelo's career is generating for them.

Damn son. Wtf. That's a lot of money. Canelo best get started fighting again very soon and a lot at that.

Yeah, Oscar will eat most if not all of that

It's all good my sweet friend, Oscar knows how to eat. He is a man that won't let his cuisine go to waste.
