Apparently, Trump is now going after Bernie supporters to vote for him instead of Hillary in the general election and has gotten a good amount of support. Trump has actually spoken well of Bernie and has only said he disagrees but has not attacked his character or intentions. I can't find it now, but I read an article a few weeks ago that said Bernie would prefer his supporters vote for Trump instead of Hillary.

If you're a Bernie supporter, would you vote for Trump over Hillary?

If Bernie actually said that, recommending his supporters vote for Donald, then he's an even bigger idiot than I'd thought.

I think the sentiment was more anti-Hillary than pro-Trump, as in picking the lesser of two evils more than actual support.

Would love to read that article.

I don't feel the Bern so I can say but I remember Susan Sarandon saying she would prefer Trump over Hillary and then got in trouble because racist and had to backtrack. I'm sure there are a lot of people that feel the same way. That made me wonder how many closet Trump supporters are out there.

LOL! Bernie has never said that. His case for himself is that he says that Trump is a disaster and he's more likely to beat him.

If your support for Bernie was based on policy positions, there's really no way you're going to support Trump.
Thus, Trump is going for dumbass voters--a group whose support he's shown to be very adept at gaining.

The only Bernie supporters that would consider trump were never democrats in the first place. They were independents.

If he thinks Donald Trump is the lesser of the two in any sense that's important to the job, he's got some more thinking to do.

Not even about labels. It's unfathomable that someone could have as their first choice the guy railing about how the system is rigged to favor billionaires and their second choice as the billionaire running on cutting his own taxes by millions of dollars a year and paying for it with debt.

Bernie never said anything like that. TS is dishonestly smearing Bernie's rep.

It's not showing up on google, but I got it on the drudge website. It was basically him saying anybody is better than Hillary. The hashtags are easy to look up now though

It never happened. Bernie has never said anything remotely like that. If you're not just making it up, you're mistaken.

It's not impossible that I read too much into it, but how about yourself? You're clearly a democrat, so would your vote just automatically go to Hillary or would you consider Trump in a general election?

Funfact: More primary voters said in 08 that they would never vote for Obama if Hillary lost.

Guess who they voted for?

This article featured in Vox describes you perfectly:

The smug style in American liberalism

"An opportunity to mock and scoff and ask, How could anybody vote for this guy?"

There is a smug style in American liberalism. It has been growing these past decades. It is a way of conducting politics, predicated on the belief that American life is not divided by moral difference or policy divergence — not really — but by the failure of half the country to know what's good for them.

In 2016, the smug style has found expression in media and in policy, in the attitudes of liberals both visible and private, providing a foundational set of assumptions above which a great number of liberals comport their understanding of the world.

It has led an American ideology hitherto responsible for a great share of the good accomplished over the past century of our political life to a posture of reaction and disrespect: a condescending, defensive sneer toward any person or movement outside of its consensus, dressed up as a monopoly on reason.

Trump capturing the nomination will not dispel the smug style; if anything, it will redouble it. Faced with the prospect of an election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the smug will reach a fever pitch: six straight months of a sure thing, an opportunity to mock and scoff and ask, How could anybody vote for this guy? until a morning in November when they ask, What the fuck happened?

If the smug style can be reduced to a single sentence, it's, Why are they voting against their own self-interest? But no party these past decades has effectively represented the interests of these dispossessed. Only one has made a point of openly disdaining them too.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but everyone running for any office ever is going for the dumbass voters. Most voters, and by most I mean probably 90%, are voting based on twitter hashtags and fame, not because they're informed on policy.
