Hey sherbros , car battery is dead and i need to jump, only one problem, car is in garage and the jumper cables cant reach the car im trying to jump from. Might be a stupid question, can i just take the battery out of my car and charge it someway through the other car? lol serious would that work?

Take the good battery out of the other car, put it in your car. Start the car. Remove the leads and put the flat battery in your car. Don't shut it off. Go for a long drive so that the alternator will restore charge to your battery.

Or if you have a hill nearby just put your car in 2nd, roll down the hill with the ignition on and clutch in, then when you're rolling at about 5 to 10mph release the clutch.

Maybe back out your car until the cables reach?

Not gonna work the car with the good battery can only be taken out at the shop so i cant take it out myself.

Take the dead battery out and connect the jumper cables to it and the other vehicle. Run the other vehicle for 10 to 15 minutes then put the battery back in.

just put the dead car in neutral and roll it out of the garage.

Depends on the vehicle and how dead the battery is. Many vehicles have an electrical solenoid that needs to be energized to unlock the shifter. Pressing the brake pedal energizes the solenoid.

never heard of it.

Ask your neighbor to borrow his jumper cables and piggyback them.

put car in neutral and push it out of the garage.

problem solved.

kids these days....

Or take the running car to a auto parts store and buy a jump pack.

How quickly can you get hold of a third car ts?

So yeah either take out battery, move car by not being a baby (don't get squished though) , or get more cables and jumper them. Just make sure to insulate the exposed leads in between by putting them on some car floor mats or something

Neutral. Push car out. Millennials. Can't live with them they can't live by themselves.

buy a portable jumper

you may be able to return it after

never heard of it.

I think every GM vehicle built since about 2000 has that system and I'm pretty certain others have something similar. You have to have the vehicle in park to remove the key. The key has to be turned on and the brake pedal depressed to get it out of park. It's a safety feature so you have to have the brakes on to put the vehicle in gear.

I cant push the car out because theres not enough space i live in a crowded apartment complex and i cant risk the car not starting and it being stuck in the middle of the driveway.
