I was thinking of making an elevated jump rope platform out of wood. I heard its a lot easier on the joints than just skipping rope on concrete or other hard surfaces. Has anyone seen them in a gym or have any suggestions as to how to go about building one???

Yeah there is one at my gym that I use from time to time. It's basically a sheet of plywood with foam blocks glued to the bottom to act as a cushion/suspension. The wood is also easier on the jumprope than concrete and allows greater precision and higher speeds unlike grass.

elementary schools in Japan have them. basically a piece of plywood raised off the ground at the two ends. the farther apart the supports are the more spring/cushion you will get out of it.

plywood might be easier on the rope as well.
