I bet she broke her ribs in a bar fight

In recent years the UFC has (successfully) tricked a lot of you guys into thinking that "fun" fights are worthy of being on PPVs. PPVs are supposed to be big and meaningful cards. That's why they cost more to attend or watch. Fun and meaningless fights are for Fight Nights, TUF Finales, etc., with the occasional ones being on PPVs.

Like sure, Wonderboy vs Pereira probably would've been fun. It's also a fight between #7 and #14. Why are matchups like this happening? Wonderboy should be fighting Shav, Khamzat, Colby, Usman or Brady. Those are the guys either ahead of him or below him that he hasn't fought. Not someone who's barely top 15. He's on the downside but still highly ranked. It's either defend your rank or try and advance. Not fight some fun fight. They already did that with Holland in his last fight. Which hey, was a Fight Night like it should've been.

I don't blame the UFC for doing so as a lot of suckers still buy regardless of the drop in quality so win for them, but I do blame the fans who've gone along with it instead of like back in the day where fans actually did let shitty cards flop.
That's a good point you make but sorry, I disagree, . ..and it's what makes the UFC as successful as it is. Wonderboy v Pereira is a fight that I want to watch. Both of them have no shot at the title but the majority of fans would rather see them fight than any of the others you suggested. Again, I believe this is why the UFC is successful .

I can't really put it into words how much I'd rather watch Wonderboy Vs Pereira than Wonderboy Vs Sean Brady.

Put it on a Fight Night then. Not a PPV. Wonderboy isn't going to advance with a win, and nobody's going to think Pereira is suddenly #7 if he beats Wonderboy. It's just a fun stylistic matchup but otherwise meaningless to the division.

Only reason something like that fight should be on a PPV is if the rest of the card is strong matchups and it's the 1/5 that isn't. You put it like as the PPV opener or 3rd fight to start the card off fun or keep the excitement flowing into the more important co-main and main.

Wonderboy just had a "fun" fight in Holland so why is he getting another one? Fights like these are exactly why I and many of my friends don't tune into cards anymore, or just have them playing in the background while no one really pays attention. They make pointless matchups when the UFC is supposed to be the premier league. These are bush league matchups you expect from the B Leagues who put on random fun fights cause they have nothing else to sell as everybody knows the better fighters are in the UFC.

Aww schucks...

And folks were so looking forward to that pointless matchup for the third time in a row.

They put them on PPV because people want to see entertaining fights and the UFC have literally always booked like this.

Not if Aldana wasn't semi ready already. Now she's got a month to prepare yeah?
Aldanna was already in a training camp for a rematch against Pennington for a few weeks before rescheduling her to this bout.
She has a decent amount of time to prepare here.

No, they used to occasionally make fights like these for PPVs.

Nowadays they've convinced you we need to wait till International Fight Week to get an actual PPV worthy card.

They've always done it, look at some of the lesser names that the TUF fighters used to fight on PPV cards.

Aldana's somehow alien to my peripheral consciousness.
Granted I'm as casual as you can get.
But still, I have no idea what she does or has done.

On the PPV main cards? Not really unless they were ranked and fighting other ranked fighters.

Go back to random PPVs from 2015 and earlier. They were much better. If there was a "fun" fight they generally put it as the last prelim fight to get people already watching the fights and more likely to stick around for the PPV part.

Here's UFC 177 which Rogan called "the haunted card" because of how shit it became and this is even after they moved fights from 176 which got cancelled:

It would fit nowadays just fine, barring obviously TJ vs Soto which was made on 24 hours notice after Barao fell in his bath tub cutting weight. But that's exactly why I say became as the original card was:

We ain't getting a card like that except for International Fight Week. This was a random August PPV.

Eh look at 179. Maldonado Vs Stringer, Elkins Vs Lucas Martins and an at the time unranked Dariush and Ferreira all main card fights.

Just changing out one mediocre fight for another. There’s no must see fights for Nunes in the UFC now until she fights Valentina once more.

Valentina just got finished by Aldana’s trading partner. That fight is dead. Irene is about to do the Same thing Grasso did
