I overheard someone the other day say they preferred using the "Wizard Grip" for their throws, and I was wondering what they are referring to?

    I think they meant "Whizzer"...

and a whizzer is where instead of getting an underhook you get an overhook and drive your arm down, killing the power of their underhook, your overhook should be reaching in front of their pec, hope that makes sense

Nogi/Natural grips like this are great, but in Judo I'd much rather grip gi.

My new thing in judo is using a whizzer to get a drop kata guruma. If I can get the overhook and have a handful of lapel with the same arm, there's nothing closer for a grip I could get for my kata guruma.

The move and setups are still under construction, but it's a strong foundation I'm building on. -ken
