Judo for BJJ: Ko Uchi Gari made Easy (SUBTITLED)

dude, the technique in the video is mediocre. you don't have to be an expert to see that.

if the pretty cupcake girl posts a pie-baking video, and the people who bake pies every day point out that the filling is too runny and she burnt the crust, they're not wrong.

it doesn't take away from her cupcakes, and it doesn't mean she can't bake, it just means that her pie recipe sucks.

Lol some fat judoka online thinks my pie recipe sucks :(

RJ dodging the question illustrates my point too well, unfortunately.

He could make his own video and show how he does it differently to me and all the other videos on YouTube that show this technique the same way? But at the moment he's just some nobody on sherdog who claims to have studied judo and hapkido so his opinion means fuck all really

i'm 6'4", 205lbs, and i've been doing this for 13 years.

all the ad hominem attacks in the world won't make your technique any better.

Make your own video and show me how it's done. Because every other video on YouTube is like mine. Maybe you have discovered a secret from your grandmaster that the world needs to hear about.

Lol when you were making threads asking noob questions on sherdog I was living in Brazil training full time. Make your video that's so revolutionary, until then....

every internet video is not like yours. If Neil Adams' video is a Texas Brisket, your video is a McRib.

the secret is that if you practice your technique more and spend less time making mediocre videos and hurling ad hominem attacks at internet strangers, you'll get better.

i'll leave the youtubing up to you, you seem to need the attention.

The video I posted above is exactly the same as mine and he runs a judo dojo and has 90k views, no one said he was doing it wrong. Perhaps you don't know as much as you think, so no wonder you dont want to make a video.

I already have a video on the rotation variation :) as for not hanging off the elbow, well as you'll see in my video and the one I posted above it makes it too easy to step out of the sweep,so that's why I don't open the elbow
No worries!

In many cases you want Uke to try to step out, that's when you trap the ankle so he can't step back and launch him where his foot would have been "third leg". I know in the static example you posted that's the logical conclusion with the open elbow, but in Randori it's more fluid and you want to drive the elbow down in the direction of the third leg not trap it against is body, then he can read your intent more and resist...If you're a Judo guy....

As to the feet together as I said it's probably as a Henka Waza so the Ko Uchi is probably his second choice. And most of the time that's a transition point with the feet shoulder width not that almost T stance. T stance for your second choice technique, shoulder width for everything else....Of course there's exceptions and interpretations to everything....

"Little caesars is great pizza! It has cheese and everything! Just like Pizza Hut! Everybody likes Pizza Hut! What do you mean my sauce is tinny and the crust tastes like partially hydrogenated cardboard? I went to Italy once! Are you a pizza chef? Let's see you open a pizza restaurant!"

In principle it is the same. I think this kouchi video is much better than your last one. The only difference is the smoothness in entry and kuzushi precision (like how uke falls if he lets go, or how little effort there is to sweep). Technically the same technique just one is done by a specialist. Hope that is no offense as a BJJ guy after all.

and to clarify, your pasta is pretty great and I eat at your restaurant. when I came for pizza I thought it could be better. I figured that was fine, you're a pasta guy, but then you got awful dickish to the first person who didn't like the recipe. I pointed out that, as a pizza guy, I was inclined to agree, and that if you needed more people to tell you your pizza could be better it wouldn't be hard to find them. even as a pizza guy, I'm cool with other pizza guys telling me the sauce was off or that the crust was chewy. I don't get incredulous and demand they make a better pizza to prove mine isn't good enough, I improve my pizza so that it is.

also, in this analogy, the people who like leg grabs in judo are the people who like pineapple on their pizza.

I was trying to go out of my way not to just outright shit all over your pizza, and your response was to shit all over my life.

so, while your pasta is pretty great, and your menu expansive and generally high quality, moving forward I don't think I'll be going out of my way to have people patronize your establishment. I wish you success in your business, but you've lost mine.

I appreciate everyone's critique in this thread except RJ green who was the first to be disrespectful and unhelpful

Absolutely none taken from you (and the othersll) offering real technical feedback

I have to say, even if your'e right going to the mat on petty shit like this doesn't help your public image. You'd be better off taking the high road since I assume your purpose is to market your business, which depends very much on public perception of your personality.

You're probably right. But I'd say it's not really descended into insulting and I haven't elbowed him in the face at a competition

wow, wasn't even trying to be mean, just a suggestion. Felt bad for what I originally wrote and limited it to a simple remark.

The fact that you CAN'T see what you're doing wrong is testament to you non having the indepth understanding that someone who's focus is Judo would have.

I've enjoyed your vids before and have no doubt you have a good knowledge of BJJ. But there are levels to this, as you can understand.
