I can't help you here. You really should educate yourself.

My personal belief, based on observation, is that in the past Jerome and the Fed artificially manipulated rates to undermine Trump's successes. And this is likely revenge but could be part of a broader play to break the banks predatory behavior.

However, as I don't have all the details of this PARTICULAR indictment I will refer to my PERSONAL BELIEF that overall the central banks are evil, destructive, and do not serve the public good. Personally, I believe that much of our economic woes are due to the incredible inflation and de-valuing of our currency resting SOLELY in the feds hands. They have operated with impunity forever. I'm all about auditing the federal reserve and this indictment MIGHT BE THE TOOL OF DISCOVERY.

You can argue the Fed has its flaws, but what would you suggest as an alternative for governing monetary policy? Elected officials controlling this would be much worse, for obvious reasons, similar to why the supreme court justices are not elected.

I see people talk about cracks and flaws in the system but I don't think you can design a system that can resist a chief executive who governs in a malicious manner backed by an electoral base and political party that excuses everything from violation of norms up to overt criminality against the system. The only such system would constrain the executive so badly that a good faith, competent person in office would find it hard to govern.

Yea unfortunately with this kind of stuff there would be a trade off for efficiency. But I think in this specific case we need something... this kind of stuff with attacking political opposition is what goes on in 3rd world shitholes. And the Justic Department has basically operated with minimal contact with the White House anyway since Watergate, so I don't think it would jeapordize too much if we had some kind of laws in place to make it independent.

It’s no secret Trump wants Powell out. He can only fire him for cause. Waiting out Powell’s term which is up in May 2028 isn’t an option for Trump. He needs someone in there now he can manipulate. This is a clear and desperate attempt to find something on him to get that ball rolling. Trump started planting these seeds back in July when he visited the fed.

Glad to see the stock market is up today. I thought on this news that Fed Chief Powell was under criminal investigation the market would be concerned and down. As some of the constantly negative financial web sights were saying, the sell America was being traded. Seems that isn't the case.

It seems many feel Powell has made a lot of mistakes during his time as head of the Fed board. It will be good to get someone new in that position.
