One of the most overlooked pioneers of modern MMA, in my opinion. An iconic lightweight without a doubt.
His entire career (first pro fight was in 2001...JEEZ!), he was one of the top lightweights in the world. Was a top 10 LW during most of his career, and he could do it all: very good standup game, cardio for days, very nice subs, and underrated wrestling.
Had it not been for the UFC discontinuing the LW division when it seemed ready to explode, I think that guy would have been as iconic in the mainstream as the Chuck Liddells and Rich Franklins of this world. His second UFC run was a bit underwhelming, despite some shining moments (anyone else ever stop Nate Diaz, and with a head kick???), but his losses weren't ugly by any stretch of the imagination.
Tons of respect for this guy, great fighter!
