I disagree. dude lost a split decision to DJ, that could have gone either way. And last time he lost to DJ he had to go 9-1 before getting another shot at the title (including a win over future champ Cejudo.)

Dude was a Jacare/Ferguson type. Champ quality who got unlucky at key points and are now past their prime.

Also to note: Benavidez got 4 shots at the UFC title, not 5. two against DJ, and two past his prime.

That's kinda what I thought, looked to me like a guy who just got choked out, waking up and realized his final chance ever to compete for a title was taken from him, I'd freak out too.


Props to Joe b though, though never winning the title, he's only ever really lost to the champions. I feel like his fights were always meaningful and important to sorting out the title pictures at 125/135(when he was there) because he was always in the mix, he's was either the #1 contender or kept knocking off contenders until he was the #1. Its been a hell of a ride, I'm sure he'll fight again but there's something different about watching a former champ/title challenger knowing their so obviously not in their prime and absolutely zero chance at another shot at gold
