Jose Aldo is an underrated Goat

Yep. His skill depth was so deep that it carried him very late into his career long after losing his physical gifts. Not only was he an athletic specimen in his prime, but his skills were far deeper that some other “GOATS” that people usually list.

I have him at 5 behind Jones Andy gsp and mouse, Fedor is a tad overrated on this site his wins aren’t as impressive as the others and Khabib only defended his belt 3 times, Aldo defended 7 times in the ufc his weakness was cardio he would often fade in the later rounds and only had one legit finish in his ufc title run

hell yeah. the holloway fights kind of relegated him to the sidelines, but he's one of a literal handful of fighters who completely dominated a division for a decade. you can kind of separate the noobs from the old guys judging by the respect for aldo. he was an absolute legend whose legacy got badly tarnished at the end, and in a way it's unfair considering the fight miles he already had on him when the skid started. and that fucking mcgregor KO doesn't even count.

It's too bad the major action in his career was split with the WEC, even if it contained the best FWs at the time.

That, plus four losses and three KOs against Volk, Max, and Conor are really unkind to his legacy in the sense that a disproportionate percentage of fans got to see the relative (age/tenure-related) downfall, but not so many the liftoff and peak/prime. And while he was out of his prime for most of those losses, he wasn't precisely washed either, which can alter perceptions.

His late-career value is a nice bonus, but I think it's fair to lump him with the Mighty Mouse/Khabib/Hughes type guys instead of Rushmore guys like GSP and Jones.

He was the best p4p fighter at one time IMO and even past his prime was fighting the top guys in the world. Doing well too.

3-1 in his last 4 fights. He's 3rd behind Jones and GSP for me

Ahead of Anderson? Big call.

Aldo isn't even FW GOAT. Hes a great fighter but no version of Aldo beats Volk

I think he is appropriately rated at around #5-6 by most.
I still have him #1 at 145 but Volk is closing in.

Aldo literally holds the record for quickest title loss in UFC history, and he got mentally broken by Conor's grade school insults in a language he doesn't even speak. You simply can't put someone who got so thoroughly clowned like that during his prime on the GOAT list, it's beyond embarrassing.
Let me tell you something about that win of Conor against Aldo. It was straight-up illegal, man! That's right, I said it. You can't just knock someone out with a punch to the back of their head like that. It's against the rules, it's against the code, it's just plain wrong. And what about all that trash talk McGregor was spewing out? He was in Aldo's head so deep, it was like he had a secret tunnel in there or something. It wasn't even fair, man! You gotta respect your opponent, you gotta show some sportsmanship, you can't just go around acting like a punk and getting away with it. So no, that win was not legit in my book, not at all.

You either die a GOAT or fight long enough to become a can.... Sorry Aldo.

Aldo should be credited with 11 successful title fights tying him with Spider. The WeC title and the division was just moved to the UFC so those 2 WeC wins should count. Definitely the divisional GOAT still and deserves to be on Mount GOATmore. He should he somewhere 4-7 on the list of overall GOATS. DJ has 1 more defense but I think FW > FLW.

Even as he declined, it’s hard to fault him for struggling with

-Conor: double champ
-Max: champ
-Yan: champ
-Volk: champ, recent P4P #1
-Dvalishvili (you saw what he did to Yan)

for casuals yes

for anyone with half a brain they can just google his record, see who he beat and got beat by, and make an informed decision.

Beat no elites, got beat by the elites. Who's the best guy he beat? Chad Mendes? Zombie?... Frankie maybe

He did reign supreme for a long time over an average division, that's something cause upsets happen.

As soon as the division got some depth, Connor, Max, Volk etc, bye bye Aldo

The funniest thing was saying hes out of his prime, he was younger when he lost to all those guys than Volk is now.

top 10 maybe. But not even sure if he's top 10.

GOAT doesnt matter.

Aldo is one of the greatest fighters ever seen. There is no reason to slander him as you are doing.

Nope, and you joined 2004 lol. How do you be a fan this long, and be like a kid who still believes in santa claus?

yes he had a long win streak, quantify that win streak by looking at who he beat... what was the division like at that time?
