I think why Masvidals hairline is brought up is because how suddenly he went from negative temporal recession to full blown bordering on having to go bald to not look silly. She might have something called "Alopecia areata" which one of my male friends got recently. They are round bald spots due to a immune system reaction to the hair follicles.

More precisely they get it because of their response to androgens like DHT. A response that can influence the risk of other diseases.

That is probably why under 40 balding has been shown to be a marker for heart disease and types of cancer.

Masvidal has always had a widow’s peak, which he straightened out with cut/styling. You can clearly see it in this old pic:
