Let's not pretend here. Jones would be wrestling from the first second the fight starts until he snatches a submission. I don’t think Alex understands the discrepancy in skill between his grappling and Jones'. Its far larger than the one between his and Jones' striking. Pereira is an early night for Jones, which is why he wanted Alex over Aspinall. There will be truly no chama if this fight takes place.

I don't think that's a particularly crazy take. I think it's probably the most realistic outlook if working under the assumption that Jones is still close to the Jones we know.

Doesn't mean I don't want to see it, as long as Jones is still floating around the scene and in the picture. Alex isn't a guy you can just count out completely. He could crack anyone in this sport, past or present.

yeah, Jones and Aspinall would both take it to the ground. Alex would have to catch them earlier. Tom could also starch him with his hands.

All hypotheticals but i dont think its a bad take to be fair

Jones couldn't put Anthony Smith away in 25 minutes.

And he's older and slower today. Prime Jones sure, I'm not sure at this point though.
Jones seemed to overlook guys he saw as lesser and just coast on natural ability. Probably should have costed him against Reyes. He lost that fight. It's a bad outlook and approach.

But I don't think he would take Alex lightly.

Couldn't even sub Reyes

Do people not understand that Heavyweights generally have less skill then all the other weight classes? It's not surprising that he could do that to Gane. (rare exceptions like Mir, Big Nog, Aspinall)

Periera has way better grappling D then Gane.
Jan who is a black belt in BJJ couldn't finish Alex from rear naked choke position. And this was several months ago where Periera has only improved since then.

Jon Jones has never been kicked in the leg by someone like Periera which can be a HUGE game changer and boxing offense/defense has always been the weakest part of Jones game.

Only hope Alex got is if Jones comes in with a broken toe.

It would make for a great kickboxing match, other than that it's Jones by wrestlefuck all day.
