I hope you guys like this, a compilation of footage over the years of me teaching the 5 kinda most special attacks Jon Jones does (that I have taught for years even before he did them-like my standing elbow crank vid on ehow so long ago), and more importantly look at creative ways of countering these attacks that coaches still have not looked at after all these years.

Please bump the thread n sub if you enjoyed it, took a good while to put together today. Thank you

O shit an OG came out to play.

Hespect.

Who you got from the main card ?

lol, yes I am old from NHB days, doing MMA 19-21 yrs and MA 30 yrs.

Let's just say I have seen some other vids out there, and kinda laugh at people trying too hard to sound smarter than they are that have no REAL SELF-KNOWLEDGE or deep knowledge of abstract concepts and could in no way apply any of the supposed knowledge in real sparring/fighting.

Copying theories/concepts others have talked about is not real self-knowledge or analysis.

The biggest thing JJ did in the first fight was leaning on DC constantly making DC the top of his triangle thus gassing him out. Since Gusta, Jones believes in his chin, and only ate some uppercuts because of this when grabbing single collar tie.

BTW-5 Ranges of Combat in unarmed MMA fighting IMO, 7 to 8 in melee weapon combat, and 2-3 in grappling IMO with overlap.

someday perhaps, I actually debated about spending today doing all the damn work to make a decent video today discussing that and the leaning, but instead decided to edit footage of me teaching and preaching all these techniques and counters many years ago. I did that after Rothwell choked out Barnett, and that vid blew up.

I will give you the read between the lines version
Distance of SPECIFIC Weapon to specific target matter
Distance, depends on constantly changing Spatial Relationships, footwork, and timing-
2 combatants are not immovable stick figures or hitting a stationary bag

Years ago there was vids of me teaching the Chasse Bas Jeet Direct Oblique Kick, and vids on how to counter it, calf kicks and how everyone needs to learn to counter-and they still do, using the piercing front ball kick to lower abs, Shifting/switch punch/Power Step Out Hooks etc, Back Hammer Combos.....long before they were halfway commonly used, or for instance before Alpha Male fighters all got KOs or knockdowns with the power step out/Shift Hook which still isn't called. Or Catcher Arm Through/Across Guillotines that still are not differentiated from regular guillotines and a lot more when it comes to rare subs.

it's 220 am, I should probably stop tired posting.

Thanks Dan. Always enjoy your stuff.

Thanks for the support guys,
I know a lot of counters the 2nd half of the vid are too outside the box for many, but it does amaze me when problems come up, no one tries to solve them.

Any specifics you guys liked, or found interesting?

trivia---when was first fight JJ used oblique kick? Was it Bonner fight or not to Rampage fight?
What was first fight Rogan called it Oblique kick? Because I just found old vid I think dating to March 2011 best I can figure where I call it that and Chasse Bas, and I know I put those vids on other forum when I was heavy on spreading the use of linear kicks to knees and calf kicks...that was month JJ won title, and fight after used Oblique kicks and sidekicks vs Rampage so just wondering.

Also, in JJ vs DC 1, Rogan called it Elliptical kick for 2nd ppv in a row, so I posted about it on other forum and he responded and said I was right, either way you do the kick is not Elliptical and should be called Oblique.

1st major one was Vera vs Jardine in 2008, later Mexecutioner did it, and Anderson etc. but didnt catch on until Jones

Just re-upped these old vids I could have included some of the footage

Cool videos Dan! You're very knowledgeable. I would watch more of your stuff in the future. My question to you would be, what's a technique that is very effective that we don't see a lot of in MMA? What is the next step of evolution for MMA? Seems like it's shifted towards wrestling/boxing. Also, your guard in the Yuki Kondo fight was fierce!!!!

Hey there,
Well, calf kicks are now done so often, but no one is checking them....that is one thing missing.

The next, would be what I call my Anti-Cage Techniques....some guys now are doing the throat/chin shove technique which is good, but all should be, and that is just the easiest technique I have an entire system.

But right now the evolution is Range 5 Neo Striking, blitz, off rythem, switch stance, shift, switch punch attacks. Only a few are really doing it, and understanding how the use of calf kicks and knee kicks can keep you with footwork safely in range 5 where most fighters can only fight to range 3. I mean most are not good at kicking, other than close range 3 round kicks to leg.

knowledge of much more subs would help. Now the leading is the guys that pay attention to front headlock series that I teach and advanced guillotines....it is transitional stuff now not so static that can lead to subs. Christian Lee and his sister are doing it and I share vids with them. U do see some seem to pay attention to the guillotine and front headlock series vid I teach........chin strap or then going to Schultz Choke as the starting point....but everyone is missing when the few guys have gone to Schultz choke for a few seconds.

Other leglocks from top position as in my 5 leglocks you stay on top is missing, like the reverse toe hold now a few have tried, one of which I taught, and the toe pull I made up.

If you enjoyed my answer, reply back, cheers

Also, while there is much less guard work, more on instantly scrambling getups, but when there is guard, Leghook Guard to elbows to oma plata and getups should be done more often.
