Jones v Stipe is Absolutely Farcical

Maybe not by sub, cause he's never finished a fight by sub, but I get what you're saying. On paper Stipe is in many ways the most dangerous guy Jon's ever fought. Has Jon ever fought someone with this combination of power and wrestling? No he has not. Stipe's on another level from Rampage, Ryan Bader, and even Cormier. The only reason the line is this wide is because of Stipe's age, inactivity, and KO losses that indicate he's at the end of his career.

Yes exactly but from what I remember Stipe took bombs before getting KO'd. He ha taken punishment and not gone down. Stipe is not that old. Inactivity yeah I can see an argument there.

This fight is a joke , it's obvious they are protecting Jones at this point, Gane laid down before the fight even started. Pavlovich and Aspinal have been on tears. Funny how the Jones fans who grilled Fedor for "ducking" and not fighting the best now find their guy doing the same thing while having to roid out. Stipe hasn't fought in forever and seems more interested fire fighter softball games.

Lol first it was Jones is never gonna fight at HW and stipe would wash him now its a farce.

Just admit it, Bones is good. You don't have to like him but he's the fucking GOAT.
Stipe is old and on the Decline , he's not even a top 10 hw at this point. Jones isn't the GOAT , maybe to his nut hugging fans. Lol he won't fight Pavlovich if Stipe pulls out. That really says it all.

Lol the ufc will simply protect their guy and avoid guys that actually pose a threat to Jones. That will just continue to tie up the division and most likely he'll retire towards the time they would strip him. Lol he'll retire as the " GOAT " despite arguably losing to Reyes and multiple failed drug tests.

Well Jones last 4 fights are the win over Gane and 3 decision light heavyweight fights where he really didnt look all that impressive. Almost lost to Reyes and some people think he actually lost.
The gane win tells us fuckall on how good Jones currently is. Gane looked nervous and intimidated and made a fatal mistake.
So weve really seen nothing of Jones. Stipe wont be an easy takedown for Jones but even if he gets taken down he defends very good of his back (cormiers only takedown resulted in nothing). So lets see how good Jones striking is at heavyweight. Hes not going to have an easy night thats for sure. Stipe is a very solid boxer with one of the chins in all of ufc.

Enjoying your fantasy league?

For me it's still a bit of a mystery just how good Jon Jones still is at HW. All I saw was a 2 minute destruction over someone he was levels ahead of in grappling. If Stipe comes in ready to fight this might be very competitive. I don't know how anyone can just write Stipe off as an easy W like it's going to be a slaughter.

My feeling is that Stipe will look better than expected and Jon will look worse. Most are expecting Jon to go through Stipe with out much trouble. I don’t think it will be that easy. And like you said , we’ve only seen Jon at HW for 2 mins. So we don’t know how he will look over a longer multi round fight.

Like I said, Stipe will perform better and Jon not as well as everyone expects and result will fall somewhere in there. I think a competitive fight that goes to a decision

Tickets for this event have been kind of insane, I bought two for 900 each and two days later they were reselling the ones behind me for 1,500

I don't think someone spending 100,000 dollars on a ticket cares about losing 100,000 dollars.
It seems there is a fine line between people who pay for $100,000 seats and the several dozen celebs and fighters who get gifted those same seats in the front rows.

Yeah his age isn't necessarily bad for HW, and all the things I listed might not matter. I agree with you he landed a good punch on Ngannou and took a couple as well.
Personally I just didn't like his physical condition in the second Ngannou fight. Something was wrong there. So it's just too big of a question mark for me, but I really want him to win.

Jones had been talking about moving to Heavyweight since 2012 and didn't until it was confirmed that Ngannou wasn't going to re-sign; Jones also ducked a prime Miocic because he didn't think enough people knew who Miocic was (and yet Miocic's buyrates haven't changed since his first reign).
ewwww

<{you!}>

just retelling personal fantasy as reality

Dana White reveals Jon Jones really did offer to fight for heavyweight title at UFC 196

Lmao this guy didn’t see the Santos or Reyes fights

What does that have to do with Jones beating Stipe? That's like saying Stipe never had a chance against Jones because he was humiliatingly KO'd by Struve.

MMATH is not a valid argument.

Stipe 100% would’ve stopped him in either one of those fights. Not even a second thought

you can’t say Jones would’ve beat Stipe the night he fought Stefan.

Ah yes, the "if my aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle" argument lol

<DisgustingHHH>

Saw something online that said the most expensive ticket at MSG to watch Jones v Stipe was over $100,000. I feel bad for whoever is paying that to watch a drubbing that will be over within a round. Jones is nothing if not calculating, he knows Stipe has nothing for him and he will retire immediately after the fight to avoid any of the other contenders in the division.

You've done it now.

Jones will be compelled to make this the most boring and needless five round decision in the history of all of Jon Jones' boring and needless five round decisions.

He's a master of padding out fights for time.

I think we are jumping to conclusions based on one fight (Stipe vs Francis), and assuming Stipe will make the same terrible mistake he made in that fight. Stipe thought he was hurt and charged him, and that is why he got knocked out so bad.

He is not so bad that there will be a first-round finish; he will keep Jones busy for at least a while.

The reason it is a bit of a farce is that it is for the title and doesn't involve Pav or Aspinall.
When you’ve watched the sport a long time you realize a fighters time on top is finite. Stipe got brutally KOd and is 40, he will not return the same.

You're right. He could have choked out Gane in 30 seconds

I wasn't saying Stipe was still on top, I was saying he would last longer than one round.

Stipe could surprise but he is battle worn. Older fighters fade fast. Jones no spring chicken either. Jones knows he has a favorable match up. Not a gimme, Stipe can grapple unlike Gane. But so could DC and JBJ prevailed. Jones reach n kicks likely will soften Stipe knees.
