Jones v Stipe is Absolutely Farcical

I agree that Bones is only taking fights he definitely knows he can win. After the Santos and Reyes fights, which you can argue he lost, Jon knew he now had limitations as a fighter.
The only limitations Jones has is Father Time and motivation. He’s the most talented and best fighter to ever step in a cage.

Stipe is as arguably the best of the UFC HW division and only one fight removed from being champ. It’s not as bad as it sounds - yes he’s old but so is Jon and so is the entire division. Can you blame him for wanting to fight one many called the best UFC HW for his legacy?

All you Jones haters claimed Gane would crush him and that he had no business in there sure pivoted fast. Here’s a tip though - don’t ever bet against Jones.

I'll be honest I didn't know what to think about the Gane fight. I settled on taking the over. I thought Jon Definitely had a path to victory, but I did not feel confident either way. Of course I felt silly after that. I do think Jon took steroids several times and he lost his last two fights before his 3 yr absence. Call me a hater I guess.

I wanted to go, but $1000 plus fees for the worst seats? No way.
ludicrous pricing.

it's borderline extortion.
I mean nobody is forced to go but....that is demonstrably unreasonable.
UFC are just beyond greedy.

Saw something online that said the most expensive ticket at MSG to watch Jones v Stipe was over $100,000. I feel bad for whoever is paying that to watch a drubbing that will be over within a round.

How much is a drubbing worth to you then?

Me personally, I would like at least 10 drubbings for the price of $100,000, or $10,000 per drubbing.

I'd want a Griffin/Bonnar-Esque fight of all time if I'm paying that much, as well as the chance to punch each guy in the face without repercussion

Just crazy the prices they are charging for tickets. A near full card should have been announced by now

How is it bizarre? The fight is a squash match being marketed as a war. And people are paying accordingly.

What do you care what other people are paying? I don’t get what is bothering you here.

The UFC promotes every fight to make the most money possible. That’s literally their job. What are you expecting?

Jones is nothing if not calculating, he knows Stipe has nothing for him and he will retire immediately after the fight to avoid any of the other contenders in the division.
Buddeh..

Seeing Jones KTFO is a bargain at ANY price. And if you have $100K to spend on that..

You are much richer than myself before Covid blew it all away.

I don't think someone spending 100,000 dollars on a ticket cares about losing 100,000 dollars.

Yeah, I think people get that.

If you buy a cheeseburger off the guy in front of front of you at McDonalds for double the price, you still got played like an absolute moronic chump even if that amount of money means nothing to you.

or cares about the fight either... it for peacocking and showing yourself in public

Even if it is destined to go exactly as you say.—perhaps those people will consider it well-spent to have the privilege of being in attendance when Jones retires after triumphantly and quickly dispatching a storied opponent. "I was there" they will tell their cronies for years afterwards "when history was made and the GOAT fought for the last time."

And if it doesn't go as you say, they'll have an fight with some interest to it to enjoy. Who knows, maybe even a memorable upsetting of expectations....

You feel bad for the multi millionaire/billionaire who sits at that seat? Im sure they appreciate your condolences

Lol first it was Jones is never gonna fight at HW and stipe would wash him now its a farce.

Just admit it, Bones is good. You don't have to like him but he's the fucking GOAT.
Stipe would most likely have beaten Jones back 4 or 5 years ago when the talk started about Jones going to hwy. Now, with Stipe slowing down and getting older, and not having fought for a while, and just seemingly pretty uninterested in MMA, the odds have changed to be in Jones favor. Which is why Jones took the fight.

Tax write-off for us rich people.

Someone whos spending a 100K for tickets to this event, has loads of f you money in his or her bank account.

I’ve been to many ufc events and pride 33. Have never paid more than $600 for seats. McG vs Poirier 3 was my last event. These prices are off the rails, reminds me of Alvarez vs McGregor. Those tickets were insane too.
