If he beats Anderson's title defence record he goes to number one. People might not like it, but it's a cold hard fact.

If he loses to Cormier or Gus then he drops to number 4.

I'm no Jones lover by any means, but his record speaks for itself.
Before Jones there were very good LHWs, some of them great, then there was Jones.

However, Jones is a BIG LHW, and before he is considered GOAT, surely he needs to do something akin to Anderson dominating EVERYONE in his division AND moving up to fight bigger fighters, or maybe Fedor who fought anyone and everyone at one point, regardless of size (OK, some of his bigger dominances were not the best of quality, overall).

IMHO, GSP's resumue is cheapened by the fact that for a long time he resorted to one fighting style to get his wins, whereas Fedor and Silva were dominant in dynamic ways.

Jones is very dynamic too, perhaps more so than Silva and Fedor, but see above for reasons his is not yet as legitimate as a GOAT as these two.
Having said that, Jones is also fighting a more modern MMA athlete than either Fedor or Silva.

Having said all that, I really hope Cormier carries on with his dominance and crushes Jones!

I'm a fair nuthugger but unless Jones moves and collects a few more wins at HW and beats a few more top 10 guys, I still consider Fedor the GOAT.

He fought everybody from freak shows, open weight fights, middleweights, light heavyweights, heavyweights, super heavyweights. Not to mention Fedor was ruthless, when he won he either finished the fight in brutal fashion or completely overwhelmed his opponents.

I second this. On top of that, the welterweight division is probably the most difficult division to dominate in. Everyone has the speed of a lightweight and the strength of a middleweight (imo).

Four wins is a long ways away, even for a guy like him. This is mma. Barao got his streak snapped by the least likely guy. Even with four more wins, I'd only put him over Andy. There's still Fedor and GSP to top. Not too mention, Anderson is still active, and can potentially increase his legacy with a top ten win or two. Doesn't sound like much but he's right behind GSP in top ten wins iirc.

Fedor is the only one who fought a weight class up and his reign lasted longer than the other's. Jones will have to move up to HW to surpass Fedor considering he's bigger than Fedor.
