Jones beats Fedor 9/10 But...

Jon Jones started his MMA career at an earlier age than Fedor. At Jon's current age of 35, Fedor was getting pounded into oblivion by Hendo. There's no comparison between Putin's pet and Jon Jones.

Jones is a year or two away from retiring at most. If we went to a year or two away from Fedor's retirement then he'd lose to current Jones. It's embarrassing if you're making a case X fighter is better than Y, and you have to choose X fighter's prime vs Y fighter's tail end of career. You're kind of proving the opposite point.

Fedor was amazing but he was almost KTFO by a Japanese pro wrestler and almost submitted by a version of Mark Hunt that didn't even train bjj at the time.

Jones would have dismantled him.

I think the first round with a fresh Fedor would be tough Jones. Assuming he lasts 5 minutes, he would grapplefuck and do his thing to Fedor. I reckless Jones would always have the chance of getting arm barred by Fedor. Jones 7/10.

Peak Fedor was something special. I’m happy to call Jones the overall GOAT but he’s not HW GOAT yet. The Gane fight was impressive but he did it against a guy with almost no wrestling.

I’m not overly enthusiastic about seeing a 40 year old Stipe putting up much of a fight. If Jones bulldozes guys like Plavovich, Blaydes and Aspinall, then we can talk.

Keep in mind that he nearly and arguably lost to Reyes and Santos. He hasn’t been a finisher in ages. This might have just been the right opponent.

Until we see more, I’m picking prime Fedor.

Jones beats any Fedor that has ever fought on US soil 10 times out of 10, 99 times out of 100.

Even the old untested Fedor from Pride would lose 9 out of 10 to Jones.

No knock on Fedor, he was the best in the world at the time but the sport has evolved so much since then.
