If they fed Gane any of the current HWs who are considered wrestlers, those one or two fighters, not in the top tier, would have been easy wins for him.

Jones was impressive as he was moving up a weight classes and it was his first fight in like 3 years. The bigger issue is that people hyped Gane up to much, he is not that great of a fighter but he is also not some big fat slob HW so people are drawn to him.

Fight wasn't long enough to gauge how good he is at HW. Stipe will be a bigger test. I favor Jones, but he looked soft in the middle. Sometimes fighters move up and become lackadaisical not having to worry about making weight. If he obliterates Stipe then there can be no doubt he is GOAT (arguably already is).

No, the argument you are making is that Gane was somehow pampered and had a record of set-up fights, because there were not wrestlers in there.

I'm pointing out that fighting HW cans just because they are shitty fighters who primarily wrestle isn't a more legitimate resume.
