Sheymon Moraes, former UFC and current PFL fighter, spoke to the Connect Cast podcast about Jon Jones' future and his time training at Fight Ready, Arizona (Cejudo's gym)

Translation:

Podcast Host:

- We still have to see how Jon Jones will perform after all these years bulking up ... look, he is 3 years away from the sport, 20 lbs heavier, and not in his prime anymore. We are talking about another Jon Jones, it is not the same Jones who partied up all weekend and then beat up Gustafsson, it's another Jon Jones, brother"

Sheymon Moraes:

- Yeah, but he is built different. He is training regularly in our camp.

Podcast Host:

- Oh, is he in shape?

Sheymon Moraes:

- Yes, definitely. He is very skilled, he will just duck under, pick your ankle, pull ... and make it look easy. You look at it and think to yourself: "Holy shit, how is it possible for someone to be that size, yet be so quick?"

Podcast Host:

- If you are watching him up close then I'll take your word for it

Sheymon Moraes:

- Yes, and now he is chilled out, Jones is very humble .. he is always in the gym training, just doing his thing.

Gane is in big trouble. Jon Jones' wrestling seems to be on point.

Always heard that Jones is just a different level than everyone else in the gym. This isn’t surprising. Even though Sherdog will be surprised by how dominant he looks in his HW debut.

Rashad and Van Arsdale told me just how good Jones was at Jackson’s prior to them coming to South FL. It isn’t just gym buddies talking each other up (especially since they both despised him at that time), in Jones case he is one of the most skilled fighters to ever grace a cage. Not saying he isn’t without his faults (as all greats are)but his skills over his career speak for themselves just as his legacy will to the masses.

You can’t inject skill.

His teammates' opinions don't matter. They're probably even paid to say shit like this. What else would they say. "He's slow as ass, he's gonna get owned?"

Really, the only thing I have concerns about are ring rust and slowing down. As much as I don't care for Jones as a person, I respect his skills in the cage, enhanced or not. If Jones' wrestling is tight, Gane is in trouble. However, Gane is still young, and this experience will make him more prepared for a later run.

I'd rather hear from a heavyweight or lightheavyweight that actually sparred with him. Either way we won't know until he is in the octagon.

Strength, and cardio is what I’m interested in. If he is deficient in either at HW there’s it will be a very difficult night.

Your story is great if we believe the fairytale that the only times Jones used was when he popped.

Mine version is the one where he's been a cheater forever.

You can't prove yours any more or less than I can prove mine, but if I'm right it explains why he's always been a higher level gym or otherwise. If you are right then he just may be the best Martial artist ever.

So that's where we are.

He's either the absolute best ever or he's been geared up for 10-12 years. Sucks that those are our only 2 choices bc such a polarizing mf'r.

Keyword “teammate”

but I thought that Jones would always be a steroid cheat, and that steroids gave him every single skill he used to win fights, so by that logic he should still be excellent by way of steroids, right?

He probably should've taken a warm up fight against a lesser opponent to really gauge where be stands.
