I personally don’t think at his age, and with the current evolution of martial arts, he could hold his own against professional MMA fighters.
With that said you’re missing the context. Karate point fighting as a 19 year old in 1987, means more than it does today. Top tier Kickboxing promotions were scarce for a 19 year old from greater NYC/Connecticut region.
Joe Rogan, Wonderboy, Raymond Daniels, Michael Van Page all came from competitive bases that were similar to Karate point fighting.
Read up on Ernest the Cat Miller; he was known as a guy you didn’t want to cross in the WCW locker room (and he was a Karate point fighting champion, similar to Michael Jai White).
Its levels better than “ballet”, levels below a technical wrestling background. In others words Michael Jai White, similar to Ernest Miller, would’ve been in trouble with a real wrestler. To say he’s at a Seagal level or ballet level is absurd.

MJW is part trolling and ego boosting. He's been this way since the 90s. At the same time he must be a likable guy because I don't see very many celebrities or fighters talk bad about him. The opposite is like Steven seagal who is known for being a complete asshole

No he's not a fighter
Could he have been if MMA was around in his prime years? On paper, he had all the tools necessary to be successful. By the time if became possible to make a living doing it, he was already too old.
Nothing is ever for certain. A gold medalist wrestler going into mma doesn't guarantee they'd succeed as a fighter because that requires a different mentality. As we all know, technique isn't everything.
But, his martial arts process, technique and tool kit deserves a lot of respect.

I watched the full clip, and it wasn't as bad as it sounds. He pretty much said he was able to catch Jones by surprise with some techniques that he wasn't used to, and that those techniques wouldn't work a second time. And it said if they were grappling more then he would've been killed basically.
