Jones tends to get more leverage on his punches when he goes lower to the midsection. The liver shot that finished Shogun was very hard, and he wore down Cormier with body punching or atleast it was a big factor.

Lot's of people talk about not having big power in his hands. He might not be Francis Nganou or derrick lewis, but he sure can pack a punch: Gane is not safe anywhere.

He was a HW who took PEDs, popped numerous times, and despite his attributes, he still can't crack an egg.

He has power in his kicks and elbows, and lots of other attributes, but Jonny got the pillow hands.

Jon has as many skills as anyone in MMA history, but high-end punching power simply isn't one of them. His kicks and elbows are obviously his best striking tools. And he's great at landing shots from the clinch. But he's never been a guy with legitimate punching power at LHW.

Only time I can remember him dropping anybody with a punch was Lyoto and he ended up finishing him with a sub. He’s never shown to have a ton of power in his punches on the feet.

I don't buy this argument but I would argue instead that it doesn't matter if Jon's standing punches are weak when he can rock you with lightning fast elbows (as with Rashad), kicks (as with DC), spinning shit ( as with Gus 1) or strikes on the ground

Gane is an extremely violent finisher when he isn't fighting an opponent whose KO power he respects.

He retired an undefeated prospect on the regional scene that was a single win away from a UFC call-up with the beatdown he put on him. You can see it from (1:20-3:00) in the video.

Gane hits that guy 150 times before the stoppage. He has power like Jones. This fight is going the distance.

I agree its not as bad as people make it sound. If you broke down Jones skillset by category he’s literally elite at everything except punching power.
