Jon Jones in a single year accomplished more than Khabib did for his whole career

If anyone is wondering what year, it was 2011.

Jones dismantles Shogun, and defends it against Lyoto and Rampage..all in one year and all of them are certified legends,

Khabib for his whole career has 3 legit wins. Conor, Gaethje and Poirier.

Jones was a monster back then until he turned into a point fighter. That side kick to the knee was the end of his killer instinct in the octagon. After Rashad he had 3 close calls with losing with the Belfort armbar, Chael toe break and Gustaffson fight and he just became a point fighter. Once you can just sit on the outside and effectively jab with your leg why bother engaging and risking those moments again.

He should have gone to heavyweight after the first DC win or even after the 2nd DC win was overturned. He could have used that time off to gain some size. His last 3 wins did nothing for his legacy and the two controversial decisons against Santos and Reyes have ruined a lot of the HW hype.

Machida and Page were washed by that point but they were all great wins. Shogun quit in their fight too but yeah fuggin impressive.
Hindsight logic there buddy. The old "everyone Jones beat was washed up." Same people to say Conor isn't good just talks but still want to credit Khabib for the win. Personally I think Khabib COULD have surpassed Jones. I just don't see how you can look at what Jon did as Champ and think Khabib's short reign is over Jones'.

I think that's the point of the thread is some ways. Jon fought far far FAR more higher level competition. Khabib faced like 3 top LWs his entire career, Jon did it in one year. If you consistently fight the best, you're gonna have close fights and lose rounds. Jones in his 8th fight was already fighting Bonnar, Khabib in his 15th fight was fighting guys who were working and training in sheep farms. Facts are.......Jon Jones between Ryan Bader, Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Evens, Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen lost one round of 22. Perhaps if Khabib actually contined to fight he'd lose rounds as well.
Also worth noting that he’d literally cleaned out the division from a very early age.

At some point, I think it’s hard to find the same level of motivation and drive compared to when you’re taking on big, new and exciting challenges.

When the chips are down and there’s a heightened sense of urgency and challenge, Jones shows the fuck up and I think there’s been more than a few occasions where those circumstances were not present.

A bit off topic but that’s one reason why moving up to fight Ngannou is interesting and why you can’t count Jones out. He’s no longer the king defending his throne, its a fight to prove people wrong. A different level of motivation.

Jones has achieved nothing when he isn't sticking a needle up his ass.

Biggest Fraud in MMA history.

So people are still salty about Khabib?

Yeah okay.. your point being ?

Jon Jones also popped for steroids which negated most of his achievements.

All of which, doesn't also consider the other foul shit outside of the octagon but who's counting that?

Jon Jones will never be globally recognized like Khabib... the man is admired the world over for his character and achievements.

Jones is known for being a very talented fuck up.
I dont recall Jon popping in any of those fights or is he the only fighter in the UFC who deserves all accomplishments erased after a failed test? There are so many threads about that to cry on. I guess you said I’ll cry where I want

nah, he was cheating taking steroids so it doesn't count

Jon was on PEDs. Without PEDs would Jon have been good enough to fight in UFC? Who knows, he was skilled but how much of that skill was him being able to train more often than other fighters and how effective would he have been if he was significantly weaker and more unfit due to being a clean fighter? We don't say Lance Armstrong is the GOAT cyclist, just like we can't say Jon is a great fighter. Great fighters don't cheat. Bisping is a much higher calibre fighter than Jones because he fought clean.

It's amazing how someone can get caught with steroids on 3 different occasions and still be celebrated this much. Delusional UFC fanboys.

I'll take JBJ over Khabib but lets not pretend bones was conquering the best of Dragon and rampage and he certainly beat an already defeated and deflated shogun.
