You can evidently see Jon and Gus have very similar arm lengths and shoulders widths, even tho there’s supposed to be a 6 inch reach discrepancy between the 2.

The UFC has a team of chimps measuring athletes. Gus's reach at one point was 76.5in by the UFC and at another 79in and Gus himself said his reach has always been 81in.

Beyond that, people are stupid. Wingspan doesnt just measure your arms length the way armpit to knuckle tip does, it measures the length of your fingers and width of your shoulders too. Jones shoulders look clearly broader than Gus's so factor that in.

Other than that Jon is definitely rangey but he looks longer when it comes to his legs than arms and shoulders. Like 84.5 inch is bogus to me, he most likely has around 80inch reach to be real

Dunno bro, I'm 5'11 (slightly over 5'11) and broad shouldered and my fingers thick'n stubby but I've always felt my arms were not long. My reach is 74in and has been measured a bunch of times, by myself and by others for competition, the variance margin has always been small 73.5-74.5. Gus and Jones are a legit 6'4, maybe a smidge taller even. Jon has always looked to have very long arms and he is noticeably broader in the shoulders than Gus to me, not just based off this photo but my general view and recollection. I would not be surprised if Jones reach was truly 84/84.5 but if it was only 82 I wouldnt bat an eye either. Gus's reach was listened at 76.5, 77 and 79 by the UFC at different points from what I can tell, sorta like Andersons height was listed at 5'11 at one point. Weidman is a guy who at 6'2 was listed to have a 78in reach and Weidman always looked to have long arms to me and his shoulders are fairly broad, definitely broader than Andersons. So if their reaches are 77.5 and 78 (which seems totally believable to me), is it really hard to believe Gus is 81 or Jones 84.5?

I mean he definitely has a longer than average reach but not 84.5. Look at him next to Smith, he does have longer arms but don’t forget Anthony Smith has 76 inch reach, the difference is supposed to be way more than that considering it’s 8.5 inch discrepancy. Like to put it into perspective, this is the difference between Kawhi Leonard who has 87 inch wingspan and Jimmy Butler who has 80.
