of course, any MMA fighter wants to beat the famous undefeated guy. the point is, he doesn't care anymore. he just wants the title.

i guess you can say there are tiers. imo if you win a title you are a legend. but there are guys who reach above this status who go on to do things like gsp, anderson silva, bj penn, ect guys who went on crazy title defense runs, won belts in multiple weight classes. this is a different level. i dont mean to diminish guys outside of this league its just its a class of its own. alex has double champ status and multisport champ. higher accolades than tom. same as stipe. higher than tom.

Timing and age and where a fighter is at also is a factor. like how jake paul vs tyson is stupid in some ways. Jon left his prime years ago people said he was on a downslide and showing a lot of decline. where most guys start to take burtual losses in their career jon has continued to win. he could have retired a while ago and still be considered the goat. he should be in super fights now like goat vs goat. stipe considered goat of hw. and double champs always in goat discussion for the sport. tom is just interm champ. hes gotta go on a long title defence run and then he could have that oppertunity to enter that level. does this make sense? this imo is better for the sport in general and the fighters.

this definitely doesnt create a sceanrio where a fighter cant reach that level or fight another of that level. stipe achieved his status long after jon did. you have to imagine these time lines and how far along jon is in his career. imagine if tom had been fighting sooner and already had more title defenses than stipe when jon moved up in weight. jon would want to fight tom. 10000000%

Now stipe gets his oppertunity to achieve the status jon has. because hes earned it by becoming ufcs hw goat.
and alex has earned this by becoming a two divion champ with multiple title defenses in each.
Tom need to go on a title defence run longer than stipes to be in this dicsussion and unfortunately whenn he gets there it will be to late to catch jon jones but im sure he will have his oppertunity to achieve the same status if he goes on a long enough title defence run its just not going to involve jon jones and unfortunately due to his age it probably wont involve stipe either.

the only thing that should be done for tom is if jones wins strip him of the belt so tom can unify the title vs a contender or stipe and the division moves forward. jones is a super fight not a normal champion or contender at this point. the logic should apply differently.

Sure that's true but I do remember some recent pressers where they pressed Dana on all kinds of shit, some of it not having to do w that specifically.


I think when it comes to pressers in other countries, they cant just pick and choose who they are gonna allow in there, They got less control over that there...so you see Dana actually get questions about real shit from time to time

There was another incident where Jon was supposed to sit down with an American journalist. The guy was drinking english breakfast tea so Jon refused to do the interview. He's also refusing to do interviews with anyone named Tom.
