Media Jon Jones Dirty Tactics

If it's legal then it's all good.

It's the peds I have a problem with.
And the eye pokes

Hate Jones, but in a sport where 'tap or snap' is a legit saying, these techniques are not dirty! Just because they're not on the ground he can't try to damage limbs?!

I don't even think he's trying to damage limbs. Oblique kicks are excellent and stopping an advancing opponent. They halt your opponents forward movement. So if you try to pressure Jones he sheds the pressure by attacking with oblique kicks.

He isn't trying necessarily to hurt your leg, he's trying to halt your forward pressure.

Same thing with Gus

Yea I'm not saying Bones isn't a mean MF'er. He has a mean streak in him and not all pro fighters have that. I actually consider it a strong quality when fighting in a cage. You would think they all have a mean streak but that just isn't the case, some guys do and some don't. Same thing with what people call "killer instinct", some guys have it and some just don't. Some fighters will hurt a guy then just stand there like they don't know what to do next, just can't swarm so the guy recovers. We see it all the time in the stand up. A fighter will throw a punch, connect, his opponent wobbles a little or stumbles back a step and instead of swarming he just keeps jabbing as if nothing happened. Its maddening to watch.

Anyway, Jones doesn't have these problems. He has both a mean streak and killer instinct. Showing any kind of weakness in that cage against Bones is a bad, bad idea.
Very well put

when is the last time some one finish a fight with an oblique kick, can you even list them?
There have been some but when they happen they fuck knees up pretty bad. Anyway the oblique kick isn't used to finish fights it's mostly used used to keep the opponent at the right distance, which for Jon, with his reach, is really important..

And the eye pokes

Most fighters, especially those with big reach eye poke their opponents because that's how they gauge distance. The blame is on the refs for not enforcing the rules

The day when Karma finally bites Jones in the ass he won't be recognizable.

I'm assuming he means he will pull a Ronda and find his own purple pillow to hide behind??

Bones is an egomaniac but I don't see him hiding behind any pillows. He's an animal. Losing to Smith might result in a rematch where Bones gives him a felony class beating.

It's fighting.

He's a cunt for all the eye pokes/steroids but people complaining about forceful arm drags and oblique kicks are just looking for a reason to whine

Nah, it’s called class, respect, sportsmanship.......

Words his fans can’t identify with.

I don't know why people arec omplaining about dirty tactics that happen during a fight in a cage. It's a fight!
Only thing Jon ever did wrong was elbow Hamil 12-6

They should have made those kicks illegal.

I have no problem with the shoulder cranks and oblique kicks as they are legal moves. However, I have a big problem with the eye pokes and the fact that the refs let it happen a couple times, then issue a warning and ultimately do nothing about it. I wish people would poke him back like Gus did. I enjoyed watching him wince in pain after Gus poked him.

It may be legal who knows. It almost falls into the same thing as say an arm bar. When someone else than palleres cranks an armbar they could break ur arm, tear tendons etc. Most fighters do not put that much pressure because they know the tap is coming if it's locked. Fighters know to tap to avoid injury. Using that technique, I don't see that. It's bad sportsmanship for sure. Trying to injure someone is not part of the game. Maybe in the early days, but since it became a legit sport, no. His intention is to injure with this move, which although legal, is a dirty move. He knows its a dirty move, and does it anyway. Did he really have to do it against glover?.. He honestly was no threat to Jones. He had nothing for Jones. I dont understand the mentality behind the intent to injure, but he is a dirty fighter and always has been. Eyepokes are the worst. Even if u really hate ur opponent, u should respect the sport enough to not try and injure someone and possibly end their career.
