Jon Jones declines Stipe fight

When does being inactive in a weight you've never even fought in lead to a championship fight?
Having basically every record in UFC history counts.. Guys had 22 UFC fights without being finished or losing a decision. I dont think its too far fetched for Jon to want a title shot.

I usually root for Dana but make JBJ vs Ngannou fight fuckin happen shit it has the hype of Pac vs May at this point and there missing out on money

If he actually steps up and fights the winner of Francis and Gane I see no problem with this. Blaydes, Volkov, Black Beast, and Stipe are all coming off losses. There's no clear next guy in line.

He was offered it. He declined saying it's not enough money...

Why would he fight a former champ at this point especially after he was looking for a money fight against the HW champion.
Perfectly logical move especially for an undefeated champion

Folks, allow me to interpret this for you. What he means is if he got 30 million to fight Stipe he would tomorrow.

He knows he won't get that super money fighting Stipe therefore says "championship only fans". Pay up.

He will get exposed by any top 5 HW.

I don't know, ask Conman how he did it.
The thing is all those past champ-champ moments were because the champ coming up to fight wanted the fight because they thought they could win. there was no pay-related argument because they knew it would be huge for their bargaining once they have both belts. Jones is trying to do it backwards and act like he deserves champ-champ money just to contend. It has never worked that way and I don't expect it's going to for him. Ngannou x Gane is a great fight and Jones's presence in the division is needless. it's all up to him, not anyone else to make extra special offers.

This really lends credence to that theory.

How? If Jones is suspended, there's no special reason why Dana would put on a big show about Stipe being offered and signing the contract as opposed to just announcing that Jones has been suspended, like has happened several times already. It's just cynical speculation.

We should give him some kind of props for stepping up on fighter pay. I agree he fucked up not just taking the fight but in his defense it's the biggest fight to be made right now and him and ngannou both deserve 3-6m each for it.

Well, if the purpose is to keep Jones' name in the public's mind, I think a charade with negotiations that never lead anywhere has many advantages over announcing that he's suspended. If you announce he's suspended, there's nothing more to say until his suspension is up, and at that point memories of Jones will have dimmed and expectations might be lower because of the prolonged inactivity. Plus there will inevitably be those who think he got off easy and that the sport and the organization are corrupt for continuing to associate with an incorrigible cheater. With the bogus negotiations, he's never entirely out of mind, so interest in his future fights won't level off so badly, the UFC doesn't look bad, and a few people might believe Jones has gone straight and will be fighting clean.

If he was quietly suspended for another doping violation, I would suspect that it would probably be a pretty lengthy one given his previous issues and instances of leniency. That, and USADA would probably like to make an example of him. So even though it is entirely possible, my gut instinct is that is not a suspension-related absence. Hell, I don't even know if he's even in the fighter pool at this point.

He could be hoping that enough fan support rallies his cause where he gets a huge payday in a title fight, but given the rise of Gane and the UFC's recent history of being less acquiescent than in the past, I seriously doubt that will work in Jones case. He does not put up huge numbers like Conor does and I am not sure how much the UFC is willing to risk on Jones not screwing up again.

Honestly, he might not be happy with the gains he's been going for and wants to cycle a little more.

In any case... shit or get off the pot. I want to watch fighters fight, and if they don't want to do that, I have no love, time, or use for their PR foolishness and social media games. I'm not their friend or family, I'm not their business manager, and I'm not getting any of their money.

the only goat who fought someone else was A. Silva. btw, it was the former champion in forrest. jon jones against derrick lewis would be nice
Lol Jones would fuckin wreck Lewis and it would be a total blowout....and I dont like Jones, fyi
