Jon Jones and Bros. Genetic Heritage

Yeah, that's just a guess. I just remember Jones even saying a few years ago that he couldn't dunk. I found it kind of strange that he would even mention that. Now this video pops up. It led me to guess that he wants people to think that he can't dunk. Maybe I'm on to something, or maybe its a clear case of confirmation bias.....Either way, the dude can dunk. His brothers are in the NFL. Like they didn't play basketball growing up? C'mon.

Basketball is during wrestling season. Wrestling is big in his family.

Jones doesn't know how to attack the basket. If he practiced for like a week, or longer, he would probably be dunking. He just has absolutely no basketball instincts.

There was a video of Jones training with his brother Arthur Jones at Jackson's in Abq. They are measuring their vertical leap. Art barely jumps about 8 inches. Bones touched the highest bars on the ladder with ease, at least 20+ inches.

So yes Bones can dunk, he is trolling people in this basketball video.

How are those 2 things in any way connected? I'm sure he has played basketball but not everyone who played basketball as a kid can dunk. MMA fighters aren't necessarily fast runners or high jumpers and they don't need to be. A lot of them are not naturally athletic at all.

Chuck is only 2 inches shorter and I'd be very surprised if he could dunk. Rampage is also only a few inches shorter and they showed on TUF that he couldn't dunk. Hell, I really doubt Tim Sylvia could dunk a basketball either.

Jones has the legs of Kate Moss so I am not the least bit surprised that he has zero vert, combine that with the fact he didnt even take a run up and you get this vid.It also looks like he is holding the ball in his off hand and isnt sure which foot to take off with.

A lot of blacks have super skinny legs. They usually can still jump like crazy and possess quite a bit of strength in them. Size isn't always relative to strength in muscle.

You know, its ok to play basketball when its not basketball season. I was pretty damn good at basketball as a high school kid, but I didn't play on the team. You assume that a good wrestler can't be good at basketball. It doesn't take a bunch of basketball skill to dunk. It takes natural ability. If you are tall enough, and you can jump high enough, you can dunk. I know guys that can dunk that don't even play ball. Jones can dunk for sure.

6'4" black guys from athletic families that have an 84" reach CAN dunk. Like I said, I'm a 5'10" white dude with average reach and I can barely palm a basketball. I can get rim, and there was a time when I could almost dunk. Jon freaking Jones can dunk. MMA has nothing to do with it. You act like if someone is good at MMA they can't be good at jumping.

I've honestly never met a wrestler who could play basketball. It isn't their game.

The Matthews family is pretty much bred to play football

NEWS FLASH: Black people TEND to be better at certain things. Things like running jumping and general athletics. White people TEND to be better at certain things as well. Like the mental aspects of life. Building communities, cities and countries. We are all different breeds and all have different strengths and weaknesses. That being said, they are just tendancies, and it doesn't mean that a white guy can't jump or a black guy can't think. Its just the way it is. Humans are like dogs. Many different breeds, with different qualities. But we are all equal overall.

It is funny watching a wrestler try to play ball. They just end up wrestling on the court. But, there are plenty of wrestlers who can dunk. I promise you that. You don't have to be a good ball player to be able to dunk. That is my whole point.

They can be good at anything they want, but that doesn't mean they always are. I don't know what's to be gained from him lying. This is about the strongest reaction anyone should have had to that vid.

Not sure if trolling. But I'll take the bait anyway.

Races may have statistical differences, OK. White people tend to be better at building communities, cities and countries. Wtf? Egyptians totally invented civilisation before White people, so Egyptians must have a natural aptitude for civilisation, duh.

You really think that a black kid from Upstate New York with an athletic family has never touched a basketball before? LOL

Well actually Jones later admitted that this was the first time he had ever seen a basketball. He didn't know what it was and it took him a few minutes to get over his fear of it.

My point is that different races clearly have different strengths and weaknesses. It doesn't mean that one is better than another. It means we are all a little different. Why is this such a touchy subject. If we can all realize and admit that one race is not superior to the other, why is it taboo to discuss differences in race and identify strengths and weaknesses? Same reason you can make a movie named "White men can't jump". But you can't make a movie named "Black men can't swim". Hypocritical, one sided, emotionally driven censorship by the black community.

I believe that he is trying to show that his fighting ability is from hard work and learned skills rather than a natural athletic advantage that is possessed by blacks. I am just guessing, not accusing.

I need the science behind the stuff you speak off

I'm writing something, and I would be very grateful if someone could point me to the right information and sources.

As far as I know, Jon Jones' parents are a pastor and a nurse. Were any members of the previous generation of the Jones family athletes? It's quite improbable that one family can produce one dominant UFC Champion (a GOAT Candidate at that), and two NFL players. If you could suggest other examples of athlete families, that would also be very welcome.

And it's scary to consider that Jones was probably the black sheep of the family, the least gifted of his brothers in "pure athleticism" (to the extent that's a useful term at all to describe raw speed, agility, strength, endurance, co-ordination, etc).

Just for laughs, here's the famous clip of Jon Jones getting plonked on the head by a basketball that he himself tried and failed to dunk.

And again in jest, "Bones" was probably a diss for that gangly and awkward kid (at least compared to his brothers).

There's no evidence he is the least athletically gifted. He has a different body type which doesn't lend itself to football, but it does lend itself to MMA. He was an excellent wrestler and could have gone far as a collegiate athlete. Wrestling just doesn't offer the same opportunities that Football does, financially. So, MMA was the way to go. He hasn't just been a one-dimensional wrestler, either, since coming over. He has learned to strike very well in a relatively short time frame.

"White people TEND to be better at certain things as well. Like the mental aspects of life. Building communities, cities and countries.", that's what you said.

If you said something like, on average, African Americans are taller than ethnic thai guys, I'd agree with you.

But saying white people tend to be better at building countries is painfully idiotic. If you were a historian in 1500 BC, you'd say the Egyptians are natural born, all-time GOAT nation builders. And in 700 AD, you'd say the Chinese are natural born, all-time GOAT.

And let's try and play your game. The Jews are stereotyped to be perfect SAT scoring, chess playing, Nobel Prize winners. For the longest time, they didn't even have a nation. And what sort of nation do they have today? A small plot of land surrounded by enemies who believe it's God's will that Israel should be wiped off the map.

There's nothing wrong with discussing racial differences. If there were, we wouldn't be having this discussion. What is wrong is your racial-tendency-to-be-the-superior-civilisation-builder example.

I still suspect I'm getting trolled, but what you say is so dumb, I don't care.

Yeah, the "building civilizations" example was a drunken, terrible one. Lol. My only point I was trying to make is that every race has its own strengths and weaknesses and we shouldn't be afraid to address them. If you are black, you are more LIKELY to be able to run fast, jump high, and have longer arms. That's all.
