Johnny Walker - Gold Dust?

I literally just read the first 2 comments on him and I can tell you that you want him MORE than guys here want Borrachinha (The Eraser).
 
I watched it with two casuals (one a woman), and they both noticed it. So did I. The dude standing next to him had his hand square on the ol' bumbum.

Fuck it, cool. Would love to see Walker walk out to "It's Raining Men" and then whip Jones.

It could be a good tactic. Pretend (or reveal) that you're gay, so insecure grapplers might be wary of trying to wrestlefuck you.

Lol I didn't notice until now. Now I notice it. Its a good tactic to do now in this political climate. He may get some sponsors that he so craves. Whether he is fake gay or real gay, it's marketable

That’s exactly what I was getting at and the discussion we were having last night as we were watching.

It’ll be interesting to watch Walker’s career develop. I think it’s hilarious, given what a killer he is. I think he should run with it.

EDIT: Sitting on the couch with my old Lady, showing her this thread... she comments that he will have huge success with this gimmick and go viral, should he continue to win, so I think you hit the nail on the head.

The foregoing would lead me to surmise that Walker is perhaps bisexual or gay (or simply playing a role), but I’ve seen no commentary to that effect. I don’t mind one way or the other, but he behaviour does strike me as deliberate.

As an aside, my cousin said “It would be hilarious if this is a subversive troll-job like Gold Dust back in the day in WWE... you have a bunch of hyper-masculine dudes, acting like tough guys, rolling around half-naked, and one guy decides to throw it all in everyone’s face and be flamboyant af.”

I agree that would be pretty hilarious. Especially if he started playing up a persona on the mic. Ironic, given he is so dangerous. At the very least, he does seem to be making a conscious effort to create a flamboyant spectacle. If so... I think this is the first time we’ve seen this approach in MMA.

At any rate, back to the point, did anyone else make similar observations, or does this seem way off-base?

Either way, fantastic to watch and an absolute killer.

Look at how he undulates while the ring-man applies vasaline at 0:23, or how he looks at his opponent salaciously and raises his eyebrows during the satedown at 1:17 in the video below... among other things:

He's Brazilian TS, everyone just has sex with everyone there and the men are all extremely flamboyant. Different culture, can't judge.

I spent time in Brazil training at Grapple Fight Team (just outside of Rio - Maier if I recall correctly) in the summer of 2011.

I recall a lot of hyper-masculinity from the men, but no flamboyance that I noticed.

But that trip was only 3 weeks, so I’m not really in a position to disagree with you.
