My guess is that the dude cocked his right hand. Can't blame Joe too much although he could've just kept walking instead of turning back to confront the guy about whatever he did/said.

That said, if you're going to be the drunk goofy guy and someone keeps you from stumbling into them when they're trying to walk by, you should probably try and be cool about it.
 
As a professional fighter you need to have more restraint than that. That would be assault if a regular dude did that but a professional fighter, oof.

Nope, but I've unfortunately been involved in a number of street fights involving police, and worked at a number of large nightclubs in the city and it's pretty much common knowledge that failure to make physical contact without the possession of a weapon or deliverance of verbal threats is not a crime. Hell, even punching a guy is only misdemeanor battery (in california).

He wasnt dancing and joe smoked him ...

He puffed his chest and acted as if he was gunna throw hands...and got clipped for it...thats the threatening part...the attack or intimidation action doenst have to be successful for it to be deemed as a threat...for example...if u call a business and say imma bomb you but you dont actually have a bomb guess what u still get charged for threatening a bomb attack...this is the same whether the dude was actually gunna fight he acted as if he would and got hit...

I was in a public place and knew I was safe said sorry I stepped on his shoes, sperated myself from him and walked away loudly telling him "have a nice day" as I went away and he continued to yell . I'm not a trained fighter so I can't let of a juicy combo so it's a little different but the point is it's so easy to walk away , be honest with yourself people and realize 99% of street altercations (and even more serious violence ) is just ego bullshit . Bisping just got punched in the face in the last few days and walked away from the situation instead of fighting back. Now if you punch someone in the face I believe they have a right to send you to the hospital for a broken nose or orbital but it's just proof that you can almost always walk away if you want.
