The entire middleweight division is just accursed. Sloppy fights between supposed top rankers, elite contenders getting slept by nobodies, promotional drama and just all out unpleasantry.

"I’m the number one kickboxer at Middleweight right now and he’ll (Simon Marcus) have to live with that, not me.” - Joe Schilling (June 23, 2016)

Joe Schilling knocked out by an MMA fighter with a 6-2 record making his kickboxing debut. (June 24, 2016)

please, this MMA threads of """ is overrated or """ career is over are not appreciated here..

Yes,he is overrated

Kato vs Fang Bian for Middleweight GOAT. Make it happen Coker!

He's a good fighter, but he's aggressive to a fault. Dude fights with absolute reckless abandon. He's always open to eating a big shot. The stark difference between him and a guy like Kevin Ross was in display tonight. Ross is plenty aggressive too, but he doesn't fight with such recklessness that it allows the fight to become a 50/50 barroom brawl. In the types of fights that Schilling's pace dictates, anyone can get KO'd at anytime. He was the far superior kickboxer in the ring tonight but he got KTFO because he was recklessly head hunting

I guess you never really watched kickboxing...

I've seen enough. People severely overrate it and the fighters. Sherdoggers mistakenly assume that an MMA fighter has no chance of winning against a kickboxer in his element. Joe Schilling probably had the same thought, which is why he wanted a do-over in kickboxing.

Nobody in his right mind is calling Schilling a high level Kickboxer. He's inconsistent his whole career throughout. Him losing surprised nobody in here.

is much more probable an high level kickboxer win on KB rules where he is an overall better standup compared to MMA fighters, like it is much more probable an MMA fighter win against a kickboxer on MMA rules due the Ground game and wrestling thing heavily in MMA fighter side, different sports,i cant understand your comparison, even because Joe Schilling is not a high level kickboxer...

Kickboxing over 77kg is pretty bad right now......Schilling getting KO'd is not surprising at all. I think his standup is better than any UFC middleweight but he can lose to anyone too.

You have more confidence in that division than I do. I can see say, Gegard Mousasi shutting down Schilling with relative ease.

I miss mousasi in kickboxing. Would be an really big addition to the roster.

Kinda, yes. He is good, but dude fights too fucking reckless, he could have had this fight if he wasn't swinging like an idiot just trying to get the KO. He was fucking Kato up, had he kept his composure he might have finished it in the next round or at least won a decision handily.

I think he fought with too much emotion by really trying to get Kato out of there and getting his revenge for the first fight. Instead he got slept again and now has 2 brutal KO losses to the same guy.

This isn't a shocker to anyone that has followed his career. Same hands down unmeasured offence and same glass jaw. Joe Rogan hype trains only fooled the uninformed.

No. A kickboxer can train his whole life without ever practicing wrestling or the ground game. It has no real application in his sport. Whereas the MMA fighter will inevitably train their striking to some extent. The fact that a person trains in a singular discipline does not automatically mean their stand-up is going to be better than an MMA fighter, or that you can automatically expect that MMA fighter to lose in a fight with a kickboxer. This is something kickboxing fanboys must realize.

Same for a stand up based fighter in mma though. Like Jienotsu/Aoki, Ben Nguyen/Saksongkram or Mercer/Sylvia.
