Joe Rogan: Sorry but making money is not about being the best in the world...

I don't deny Joe is a shill. But I can't deny that what he is saying is often true.

No shit. I don’t get how this is so hard to understand. It’s no different than any other job. The company pays you what you’re worth to them. If they feel you’re expendable, you’ll be paid as such.

Joe is shilling a bit here. Never mentioned that fact boxers get over 60% of revenue while UFC fighter get 15% because they control the sport. Yes popularity pays the bills and UFC pays shit . Both can be true. Conor Khabib and other big stars are underpaid along with whole roster even though the stars make millions.

Fighters shouldn't be primarily responsible for promotion, the promotion should be.

In that case, the promotion should reap the benefits of popularity, and fighters should be well compensated for their skill from the organization.

Fighters should receive payments for their popularity by sponsors, which they should be allowed with little to no limits.
You should start your own fight promotion and run it like that,

Anyone seen Joe's new car?

Only the top 0.001% of proffesional boxers make millions. Most pro boxers would be very grateful to make $100k a fight. Not everyone is a Mayweather, AJ, Fury or Canelo. Yeah, the top boxers make more than the top UFC fighters, but the UFC is a much newer and more niche sport with a smaller fanbase.

I'm pretty sure this is actually factual. I can speak for myself and plenty of my friends/family. Sometimes being the best absolutely pays off and you do better financially than others. But the truth that I've observed (and it seems Joe Rogan and company have also observed this), is that the best self marketers tend to be the most financially successful even if they lack the actual ability of being the best.

I'm better than a lot of others but they are better at self marketing. Rap is a good example. So many dope rappers that will never be heard. Better than the current crop of famous rappers. What's the difference? Marketing. Those who market themselves best make the most money. This is why Colby Cov admittedly changed his whole persona and eventually started to make the money he deserved. I hate his marketing image, but I respect why he did it. You're putting your life and health on the line. You deserve to get paid well. I'm watching and learning. I gotta learn how to market myself better.

True. I think Khabib team also tried to teach Islam Makhachev a little trashtalk.

Dude is literally practicing his mic skill that night lol:

The ufc should pay fighters more on average, period.

Joe ain't wrong though, it applies to literally everything. Selling the most requires dumbing down the product in just about every industry I can think of worldwide so give the guy a break. He has a point.

As The Navy SEAL recruiters say; we´re not looking for the best man, we´re looking for the right man.

<You11>

Jimmy Buffett is not the best Singer who Entertains -- not even at Karaoke;

But he's worth it because he's one of the best Entertainers who Sings -- for hardcore fans and casuals alike.

Maybe Joe is a shill, but he is not wrong lol

Rogan is not wrong here

Dustin Poirier net worth: $4 to $6 million
Conor McGregor net worth: $120 million

A clear case of talking>>> skills in making money

This is bullshit analysis.

Conor made all of that money because of his talk and backing it up. Up until the Khabib fight he was 9-1 in the UFC with 7 knockouts. His one loss was Nate, which he avenged. He was a double champ. He fought money fights (double title fight, the Nate fights, Aldo). He starched the GOAT of the FW division in mere seconds. Conor is worth $120,000,000 because he was extremely entertaining as a personality and as a fighter.

Dustin was not as accomplished as Conor up until 2016 when Conor had made all of this money. Then Conor parlayed that into the Mayweather money in 2017. Dustin had not shown that he was more skilled than Conor by this point and he had been finished by Conor.

It was in 2017 that this flipped with Conor losing to Khabib and Dustin going on a tear of good wins. Even so, Dustin isn't as entertaining as Conor was up until 2017 either in fighting or as an entertainer. Up until 2017, Dustin was 12-4 in the UFC with 8 finishes (5 KO's, 3 subs) and he certainly hadn't starched the GOAT of the division after claiming that in past centuries he would have ridden a horse into his country, conquered it, and enslaved his people.

Dustin doesn't have Conor money because he isn't Conor. Dustin is a more skilled fighter now, but that's the recent history, not the totality of the situation.

All that being said, yeah talking > skills for money but you have to have a minimal skill level and Conor far exceeded that lol. He was the champion of 2 divisions. Even a Nate Diaz who is a journeyman far exceeds the minimal skillset necessary to make good money because of his marketing prowess.

Yeah, the vast majority of people are stupid, gullible, and trash, so of course they back the loud mouth assholes instead of the people who are legit.

Joe Rogan > Conor in wealth. Totally see your point. Sports should be irrelevant, or we should pay our other professional athletes the same as UFC fighters. Bring that bar down a level.

Edit: After thinking about this, I'd love to pay our professional NFL, NBA, NHL, etc, athletes the same. Fuck it. Make professional sports less appealing, and the idiots that care about sports will pay attention to the shitty world around them.
I say ban pro sports completely, globally. If you wanna play games, fine, do it for free. If you wanna watch ppl play games, fine, watch it for free. Ban betting on sports as well. Confiscate all the sports-related money and put it to good causes like education and healthcare. All that money, effort and attention - suddenly freed up.

Of course I'm being flippant here but imagine the world if we really did this.
