Media Joe Rogan defends UFC over fighter pay

Joe: "The UFC...we're not going to re-negotiate we're just trying to stay open."

Meanwhile, the UFC just posted another annual revenue record and has been doing so almost every year.

<YeahOKJen>

EDIT: Someone pointed out the clip is a year old which is true. However the UFC has only increased profits since then while fighter pay has continued to stagnate. Meanwhile, Joe's position on the issue hasn't changed.

Imagine if in every Hollywood blockbuster, every actor on set got paid the same money as Tom Cruise or Leo DiCaprio.

That's basically the inference when you bring up Conor's career earnings or GSP's career earnings. These guys were the people people were paying to see

NBA G League gets paid $37k/year

Most of the UFC G Leaguers that get a spot on the prelims get 11k to show for just one fight.

The G-league isn't the equivalent of fighting on the undercard of the UFC....not even close. Also, G-league pay is going up now. Now the g-league is giving contracts that are worth half a million, and will only continue to rise as g-league is now going to compete for prospects.

Also, you have the ability to get called up for a 10 day contract, which is substantially more money than what a prelim fighter would make (or even most of the main card fighters). They're making like 10k per day, and not even working all those days. That is why people play in the g-league and why the g-league exist.

Why not use salaries from the Chinese Basketball league or Euroleague?

You're right it's not even close. Some of those scrubs on the undercard are way less talented than G League NBA players.

You all forget, and at the end of the day, these are all rich guys worth 100 million +. Eventually they start to turn into ivory tower people.

I read somewhere that Bisping gets paid US$70,000 for each commentary night he does. Don't know how true that is.... but it's an enormous amount of money it really is.

Anyone care to have a stab how much Rogan gets paid for each PPV event?? I mean...it's gotta be a lot.
Maybe 150 to 200k?

If Bisping is making that much for commentary he's got one hell of a post fight career going for him. From BT sports, to UFC/ESPN commentating for fight cards and the contender series, Believe you me pod, part time DJ. He's got it good.

Rogan on his podcast said he use to do UFC commentary for free for the love of it. I'd guess he's probably making 100k+, his voice is synonymous with the sport and he only does PPV at this time.

Now back to thread in hand, fighter pay conversations are getting tiresome. Just don't sign the contract and put your time and energy into something much more financially stable. That's all I got.

Edit: Grammer, English is not my first Language.
