Joe Rogan’s podcast being exclusive to Spotify is the worst thing he could have possibly done

I have to imagine his podcasts wont reach even half the audience it was on youtube

but he secured his bag so more power to him

well youtube has been banning people who touch on certain topics they don't like discussed or people who don't tow official narratives. Rogan new eventually he was going to get banned and wouldn't be able to do his podcast anymore (at least the way he was). Spotify approached him to continue as he was (which is what he wanted) and offered him a wad of cash.
So it makes basic sense. If he had the opportunity to continue as he had done for the last 10 + years without having to worry about censorship he would have.
But he saw it was coming to an end. Youtube will become a very flacid platform as more and more content leaves.
Spotify employees are trying to bully him because they are part of the 'big tech' movement, but it was basic sense to do what he did. He just tried to get on board early.

My thoughts on this whole Rogan thing.....
There were some very interesting episodes over the years. Some of his guests are amazing people with amazing and funny stories.
But...I did like the super-easy and convenient Youtube channel and there was no membership or payment required, all you need is a wifi connection and you let it run (I watch 98% of content on my laptop, not on a phone) and it was great.

But yeah I have not bothered since he went to Spotify. I still don't quite know why he moved from Cali to Texas either. taxes maybe??! Hard to believe -- it's not like he needs the money. Dude was worth about 30million BEFORE the Spotify deal. I mean I know, yeah, he has a massive lake-side house in Austin and tons of woods and land and that's great, but I still find it surprising that he upped his wife and kids and went to Austin. Maybe just hated the Cali lifestyle or the taxes or maybe it was a political thing? He is fairly hard right, so that coulda been a factor.

Perhaps he just wants to hunt more in his forests etc. And yes I don't like the new red-effect studio. Previous studio was great.
Also...I'm thinking guests are FAR more likely to rock up to his old studio in Cali, than in Austin Texas. Maybe I'm wrong, not sure.
He’s liberal as fuck

and yes, he moved before he cashed that Spotify check because CA and Los Angeles rape you on taxes

I used to watch his podcasts regularly on Youtube but I haven't watched one in about three years. So, I'm out of the loop as far as his show is concerned. I used to love all of his MMA-centric shows & some of the others as well. But then it became obvious how he was leaning further & further right & as a result, his shows became less enjoyable to watch.

Did he bring his whole crew in from LA to Austin? And does he still smoke weed during the podcasts like he used to? If so, how does that work as I thought Texas was still pretty tough on weed legally?
I heard he made fairly large cash offers to SOME of his crew to up-sticks and move to Texas. His guy Jamie I think went. Schaub didn't.
So ...I think he paid for some of his production crew to go. Maybe bought them a house or just wrote them a large check.

Dn't know about the weed thing. I've not seen any of his shows since the move to Spotify.

Rogan doesn't come off as a guy for whom money is everything. Plus he's got a shit ton of it already. I think a big part of it is youtube censorship, them being difficult and making up new, dumb rules on the regular. So it all goes back to millennial decision making, as it always does.

The parts he cares about: 1. Money 2. talking to talented and brilliant people about random shit.

it’s a win/win.

your feelings aren’t part of the equation.
lol @ the accurate cynicism of #1 combined with the nonsense worship of #2.

You realize companies pay relocation expenses and bonuses all the time right?
Joe isn't a charity; he is an entertainment business.

I don't know. Have you ever seen Joe Rogan eat spaghetti?

Down load spotify and listen for free. Its really easy...

"no one is actually that interested in what Joe has to say."

Why does any of this matter to you then?
Because Joe is a proxy-hero for middle aged guys and they have invested many years toward cheering him on.
Karate-Oprah

I'm sure there were a bunch of house-wives who had mixed feelings when she created the O Network and started doing Weight Watchers.

This is my take as well. He cashed out whilst still riding the wave, but fearful of the sharks he can see in the distance.

pretty accurate I think. He's discussed before that he already had 'fuck off money'. That he could walk and wouldn't need to work again.

I would've taken the money too, it's 100mil, you just take it. You can't say no to 100mil. You could be a billionaire and you still won't say no to 100mil. 100mil.....................

On the other hand I don't watch the podcast anymore for some reason. I have spotify, I listen to other podcasts but not the Joe Rogan one.

I used to listen to it on youtube, fairly often, but not on Spotify for some reason.

Or it could be the studio. It's really bad.

I know they don't care, they've sad as much, but it's still trash. No matter how cocky they are over it, it's really bad.

Yeah I’ve watched Joe regularly since 2013. I don’t care how much money he makes.

Yep 2013 is when Rogan went to Youtube so no shit thats not surprising when you started watching and yet Rogan was able to survive without you years prior. You're acting like the podcast has to have xxx amount of viewers. It's a podcast with virtually no staff besides Jamie. It's not the Tonight Show where he has immense pressure for ratings or they will fire him.

Didnt spotify instantly purge tons of his old podcasts with Milo and the other dorks poisoning minds who he consistently invited on his show?

I've heard that too. But also that the editing was unforeseen to Rogan. IDK how accurate those stories are, but they're not that uncommon. Start over at a new place and it turns into North Korea, while the prospect was nice.

Yeah that’s why I said people used his podcast to pass the time, they aren’t truly interested in Joe’s moronic takes and annoying banter.

I understand your hypothesis: Joe has a wildly popular show mostly watched by people who don’t really care about it

His audience has drastically declined since the move.

Of course he made a ton of money but this kind of disregard for your audience shouldn't be celebrated imo. It's a bad look and makes it seem like he doesn't appreciate the support he head over theyears support the show would have never become as valuable a product as it is. Short bald Joe with his HGH looking like a bullfrog more and more lately tbh
