I think Karo was the better overall fighter when he was on top. Riggs probably had the edge in standup. I'd pick Karo because his application of judo in MMA was beautiful. One of my favorite fighters of the mid 2000s.

Meh, Parisyan ate a bomb from Matt Serra, came back and won. Ate whatever Sanchez, Diaz, Lytle ect threw at him.

Before the drug problems Parisyan was a top 5 very good fighter. After the drug problems Karo was absolute dog shit.

Serra has heavy hands but Riggs had that polished up boxing combos. Serra went crazy after that first shot and Karo recovered. Riggs was a life long competitive boxer before becoming an MMA fighter.

This is filmed right before the fight for the troops, where Karo beat Fickett and Riggs got ko'd by pillow fisted Diego Sanchez. A few months earlier Karo and Diego had a dogfight. Alot of people bias af gave it too Diego but I and fight metric thought Parisyan won.

I thought Karo won too! Good to hear I am not alone! From what I remember is, Diego finished strong by ground and pound at the end of the fight but fact of the matter was, going by the conventional scoring system, Karo landed tons of take downs and throws and got the better of the grappling exchanges.

It felt like judges only counted the end of the fight with Karo gassing and decided to give the decision to Diego. Great fight and:

How could that be so ? He was 18 when he started fighting MMA and had a pretty respectable amateur wrestling career.

karo is one of the mma fighters i really wonder how far they could have gone before they lost control. was very sad to see his decline. riggs was good but i never saw huge promise in him

He started boxing when he was 5 years old, kids do compete as boxers, some are called junior or cadet boxers. Riggs himself has claimed a pro boxing record though I cant find him on boxrec but I assume it wasn't sanctioned in the right commission.
