anyone can put the jiujitsu "KANJI" ?

I want to make a picture or maybe a tattoo for the next future.

thanks in advance guys

Im getting Jiu Jitsu tattooed in Kanji on my forearm over spring break. Ive researched the crap out of it and the easiest place to see what it looks like is here http://www.koralusa.com/. Go to the virtual store and then check out the black Kanji t shirt. After researching this I found that the characters on the shirt are the closest possible translation of jiu Jitsu. If thats not good enough then i believe wikipedia has some good info on the topic as well.

search google - image - > Jiu jitsu kanji

and you get lots of results

*or the symbol on the back of the "Samurai" Siriusathletic gi's*

Wow, those must be relatively new because when I searched Google images I couldnt find much of anything. Good find.

Hello, I own KibunInc.com and I use Kanji writing for Jiu-Jitsu on my shirts and stickers. I have it saved on my computer. Give me your email and I will send it to you.

Kanji owns.. I have that and a tribal tattoo around my ankle. Spring break 2004!

haha kanji and tribals are the most overplayed things in the world. total cheese in my opinion. get a flowy triangle or something... that would be tons better

ps- theres no true kanji for jiu jitsu. its only an ancient form of martial art. so if your intentions are BJJ... its not going to happen in kanji.. why even bother?

Youre right, the characters above stand for JuJutsu. But it seems thats as close as it gets.

If you're that concerned about it, just get the Kanji for Brazilian and you're set. Either that or incorporate a Brazilian flag.

no kanji for brazil.. only katana... face the facts man, there is no 'brazilian jiu jitsu' or any thing close to that in kanji. 'JUJUTSU' is no where near similar to BJJ.

so again man, if youre going to do something cool.. incorporate a flowy triangle.

Respectfully, you are wrong. Those kanji are used in Japan to denote BJJ.

I get emails from my club using those kanji all the time. They write Brazilian in katakana (characters used for foreign words) and then use those kanji for ju jitsu. The people at my club are Japanese, they write in Japanese and they train BJJ.

This is my club's home page - you can see the characters used at the top of the page in white going from left to right. It says, Nagoya (3 kanji) Bu ra ji ri a nn (Brazilian - 6 katakana) Juu jutsu (the 2 kanji in question) then ku ra bu (club - 3 katakana)

Arguing over the name ju jitsu is such fun.

As for kanji tattoos, well, I can read kanji (at least to an extent) and I've seen all sorts of nonsense tattooed on people. If you want Ju Jitsu tattooed on you in kanji why not? At least it has some meaning. I'm not saying a flowy triangle wouldn't be cooler though.

PS katana - sword, katakana - type of alphabet

first off... im glad we agree on a badass flowy triangle over the kanji BJJ thing. the matter is this... the only legitimate thing would be to get bu ra ji ri a n in katakana and ju jitsu in kanji... i guess that would technically work.. but katakana tattoos look even more lame than kanji. kanji tats are cool, except EVERYONE has them. its like # 2 to tribals and barb wire! haha go triangle inside an octagon shape or something...

also "katana" was a typo. sumimasen waxsan. bokuwa nihongo ga dame desune...

OK, you're right that ju jutsu on its own is not necessarily BJJ.

I also agree with you about Japanese tattoos. It's sad really because I might have wanted one if they weren't so common. A katakana tattoo - urrgh.

nihongo ha ayamaranakute mo ii desu yo. boku no hou ga heta ni chigaimasen.

wax wing... the coolest japanese style tattoos (that arent elaborate designs), are traditional japanese family crests in the samurai style. but were getting slightly off topic.

What is this "flowy triangle" you keep bragging about?

I wasn't certain that there was kanji for Brazil. I mentioned incorporating a Brazilian flag in case there wasn't. "'JUJUTSU' is no where near similar to BJJ." is a crock. Jujitsu is a term that is used to denote practically any study of martial arts. It's very generic. To add to that bjj IS a form of jujitsu. From what I am told, the kanji for Jujitsu is also the kanji for Yawara.

It's not like triangles are solely bjj either...silat uses them heavily as the symbol for that art.

ok man... all im saying is, youre trying to get a BRAZILIAN jiu jitsu tattoo in Chinese/Japanese writing. do you understand the irony here? thats all im trying to say.

if you want a kanji tattoo... then id stick to something in the theme of Chinese or Japanese... instead of Brazilian. see what im saying?

if it were me... id do something off of this:

obviously minus the 'rickson gracie' part... but again, this is at least staying true to BJJ. (the triangle is stable on all sides). but hey man, youll have it on your arm for the rest of YOUR life... so of course its your call.

if a good tatt guy incorporated some shading in there.. it would look amazing. plus you wouldnt be another trend follower with the whole kanji/tribal/barb wire thing.

^^^^ Personally, I don't think much of tattoo's in general. I can sort of understand a pro fighter getting his name or nickname, but that's about it. I also think getting a tattoo to be "different" is pretty stupid considering that it is the current fad. If you really want to consider it, a tattoo represents many things that are the antithesis of the qualities we like about bjj. But it is their body, and I really don't care what they put on it.

When you come down to it the kanji for jujitsu is just a symbol that represents jujitsu. Not much different than spelling out Brazilian Jiujitsu across your back in Win-dings font. At least he's not talking about putting his instructor's face on a tattoo.
