Maybe late night comedians can get back to..... you know... actually telling jokes? The whole divisive lecturing propaganda machine tends to get a little stale after a while. Kimmel thought he was invincible. He thought he could demonize opposing opinions all he wanted with impunity. He was so blinded by his ego he couldn't see how mocking a father that was just slaughtered in front of his wife and children might be a bad thing.

But you fundamentally disagree with the action being taken.

Right?
I won't defend someone’s speech that won't defend mine. I think there is more to this such as night shows losing viewership and not making money. Stephen Colbert is being taken off and not being is because the show is a money pit.

The ABC late-night host’s remarks constituted “the sickest conduct possible,” FCC chair Brendan Carr told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson on Wednesday. Carr suggested his FCC could move to revoke ABC affiliate licenses as a way to force Disney to punish Kimmel.

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

Gay!!!!!

He didn't even mock Charlie, his comments were about Trump and MAGA.

Found out something:

The backstory:

During Monday's broadcast of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" the host accused the GOP of hitting "new lows" on how the party reacted to Kirk's death.

"MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them," Kimmel said. "When everything they can to score political points from it in between the finger pointing, there was grieving. On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the President is taking this."

Kimmel then mocked Trump's reaction to Kirk's death, who was the one announcing the conservative activist's death to the nation.

"[Trump is] at the fourth stage of grief construction, demolition, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish," Kimmel said.

Jimmy may have just got a blessing in disguise.

Pretty sure The View could use a new whiny holly weird cackling hen.

ABC has suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" following comments the late-night talk show host made on the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
"'Jimmy Kimmel Live' will be pre-empted indefinitely," a spokesperson for the network confirmed on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

"Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse," said Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, of which ABC is an affiliate.
Earlier on Wednesday, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr had urged local broadcasters to stop airing the show on Disney-owned ABC DIS.N.

He got away with this one SOMEHOW:

Is this what Jimmy Kimmel said?

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said in his monologue.

I don't think it's that bad. You think he should be fired / canceled for this?

The only thing Kimmel did that funny was call out Leno on his show over the Conan debacle.

It’s not.

Per their website;

The Federal Communications Commission regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. An independent U.S. government agency overseen by Congress, the commission is the United States' primary authority for communications law, regulation and technological innovation. In its work facing economic opportunities and challenges associated with rapidly evolving advances in global communications, the agency capitalizes on its competencies in:

  • Promoting competition, innovation and investment in broadband services and facilities
  • Supporting the nation's economy by ensuring an appropriate competitive framework for the unfolding of the communications revolution
  • Encouraging the highest and best use of spectrum domestically and internationally
  • Revising media regulations so that new technologies flourish alongside diversity and localism
  • Providing leadership in strengthening the defense of the nation's communications infrastructure
They have to reinforce these rules:

Where in kimmels monologue did he break one of those rules? And to such a degree they’d forgo fines and instead jump right to pulling a license to broadcast?
Public incitement is not protected by FCC. The guys statements were made for no other reason than to offend people mourning the loss of a public figure.

This is so dumb.

This is how you ultimately lose.

If you won't defend someone's speech because they won't defend yours, and they won't defend your speech in turn, you lose your speech.

I'm not personally for outright free speech that allows hate speech and I'm certainly not for guns, but if you are for EITHER outright free speech AND/OR firearms, you have to view this as little more than the quiet creep of bad faith ideals.

You cheer taking things from the opposition - yet you lose them yourselves in the end. That's all there is to it.

Trump's government is talking about taking free speech and firearms away from people, and when he figures out the legal channels to do so, you'll never get them back.

Don't be a fucking mark.

What exactly did he say? What was in the article didn't realy say much.

He said Charlie Kirk’s assassin was “one of them” as in MAGA or Republican

Which is obviously false but pissed off enough people for 1) baselessly accusing MAGA of killing one of their stalwarts is offensive as fuck 2) the left has been trying to dodge accountability on this

So Kimmel, not telling a joke, suggesting it was a right winger was the final straw.

Surprised it came to this though. Figured it would clear up much easier but a major distributor didn’t care for the suggestion so ABC had no choice

He intentionally lied about the motivation of Kirk's murderer as a way to stoke division. This was Kimmel flying too close to the sun. He'd gotten away with fanning the flames of political divide in the country for years with no consequence.
